It has become a routine. Wake up, call Ashton not once but twice, leave desperate messages and then throw myself in the shower to drown out my sadness before the day commences.
There's still nothing. Complete and utter silence.
I know I fucked up but I could have sworn he said he'd never leave me no matter what happened. This further spikes my suspicion that something bad has happened because I know Ashton and I know he sticks to his word.
Cal is cooking me eggs on toast this morning, looking a little tired after I woke him at the ungodly hour this morning. He's truly been a lifesaver these past four days and not even words can express how grateful I am. He could have easily shrugged me off after what happened with Ash but he's only pulled me closer, nurturing me more than he has before.
He puts an egg on toast on my plate and pushes it over to me sitting on the bar stool. He has caught onto the fact I haven't been eating much so he said I needed some protein, hence the egg this morning.
"So, I spoke to Ashton's sister when you were in the shower earlier." Calum cleans the kitchen up from the cooking he just did.
My eyes shoot up from my plate. I'd forgotten about her. Oh my god and now she's going to know I've fucked over her brother.
I wonder how she feels? Or if she's heard from him?
"What's her name? Ash never told me."
I've always referred to her as 'Ashton's sister' but I've never been told her name and I've barely seen photos of her.
"Skye. Skye Marie Irwin." Calum says with his back turned to me as he washes up the frying pan.
Skye. What a pretty name.
"She lives in Melbourne right?" I question.
I actually don't know much about her at all and I'm surprised considering I've lived with Ash for nearly four months. I know he raised her and basically acted as a father but I'm not too sure about her life and what she does now.
"Yeah she's at Uni. S'her first year."
"So she only left at the beginning of this year?" I furrow my brows.
I forget she's only nineteen.
"Yeah she only graduated high school last
November." He states as a matter of factly."She didn't go to our school did she? I would have seen her there." I'm so interested and distracted by this topic that I'm happily eating up my breakfast without even realizing.
"No. When she started high school in Ash put her into the girls school up the road."
Oh damn, she went to the snobby private girls school. I was not expecting that but then again when I think about it, Ashton would be too protective to allow her around boys. Especially after the years of abuse they both endured.
"Right," I make sense of this all. "Then how did she get to know Harry?"
If she went to an all girls school then how did she and Harry get to dating?
Calum turns around, leaning against the bench as he wipes his hands dry with a tea towel.
"Hmm, I know the first time they met was when she and I went to give Ash some lunch when he was doing community service. But they were twelve and thirteen then so obviously nothing happened." He drums his fingers against his lip.
He wasn't too clear on the details of the relationship himself which Harry did say was kept fairly secretive.
"I would assume when they got a bit older there were parties they'd see each other at and I guess that led to them, well... being together. She would have been sixteen, Harry fifteen. Soon after, Ash found out and he stopped her from seeing him. Skye was shattered but she moved away the following year so it's probably a distant memory."
