Cale was munching on a choc chip cookie while thinking of why they weren't here yet.

Maybe the attack was supposed to go for longer last time? Lock did say they arrived around the end, when it was too late. Cale wiped the crumbs on the children's mouths unconsciously. Oh well, I just wanted to make sure they were in good hands before I left.

He stood up after finishing the last cookie, "Let's go now, I wanna sleep"

The kittens jumped into his arms and the invisible dragon rested on Cale's shoulder. Movement outside the window caught his attention. Glancing outside, he saw the heads of children peeking over the edge. When they realised that he saw them they quickly ducked down.

Cale opened the door, looking at six children crouching under the window whispering.

"Can I help you?" Cale asked.

The kids flinched discovering their cover was blown.

"Um, we w-want to thank you for helping us" the eldest stood up, glancing at the children.

"Thank you!" They yelled altogether.

Cale was taken aback by the sudden yelling but quickly smiled. "Your welcome, I should get going now"

He was about to turn around when he felt a tug at his pants. Cale stared at the kid that looked around eight, gripping his pants.

"Ah, thank you for saving us" the child mumbled, "I wanted to give a gift but I don't have any so I will give you my favourite stick" he held out his hands and revealed a smooth, straight, metre long stick.

"It's alright, I wouldn't want to take it from you" Cale patted the kids head but he suddenly started crying.

"I- hic, I'm sorry I'm giving you a stick. Hic. It must be a bad gift. I'm sorry, I'm the worst, giving my saviour a stick. Hic, but I feel bad not giving anything so, sniff, please take it"

Confused at the erupt crying, Cale just took the stick, "Thank you for the gift. Please stop crying"

The child smiled with tears in his eyes.

Cale decided to quickly leave before something else happens. He didn't know where the chief was and didn't want to go look for him so he just left.

It was becoming sunset when they arrived back at the inn. Jumping through the window, Cale sprawled on the floor and stared at the ceiling huffing. I need to get into shape. The kittens jumped out of his hands and rubbed their heads against his face.

He studied the room and checked if there were no changes.

"Human, I'm hungry" a black dragons head filled Cale's vision.

"We will wash up first then have dinner" he sat up, changed out of his dirty clothes and ruffled the leaves out of his hair. Cale opened to door and inhaled a deep breath.

"Hans! I want dinner!" He called. A moment of silence then the sound of running feet was heard.

Hans appeared from around the corner and bowed when he arrived in front of Cale, "I will prepare dinner young master"

"And prepare a bath for me and a tub for the kittens. We will have a bath first. Also, make food for three people, they will be eating with me"

The butlers eyes sparkled obliviously at the mention of the kittens, ignoring the fact that his master wants to feed the kittens human food"I will prepare it right away, young master!"

Cale slammed the door in his face. He is happier to serve the kittens than me.

A few minutes later Hans prepared the baths.
