Cale peeked open his eyes. I know it would be bad but that was wild.

He looked at the kittens snuggled into his chest.

"It's over now"

The bundles of red and silver fur stirred as their eyes widened.

"Ah! Sorry we scratched you" Hong suddenly exclaimed. On stared at the blood with worried eyes.

"It's fine. See, it's healing now"

The kittens watched at the cuts seen through his clothes started to close up.

"Are any of you hurt?"

"""No""" the three said in unison.

"Good" Cale looked at his surroundings now he checked everyone's safety.

"...Wow" We really fell from that height. He gazed out the window that was now the ceiling. The glass was fractured and cracks spread over the window like cobwebs.

Only the front of the carriage was caved in.

It doesn't look as wrecked as I thought. I guess the dragon's barrier might've stopped some of the destruction.

The thick forest now has a hole in the trees where the carriage fell through. Through the gap, he saw the silhouettes of the knights moving around.

We're lucky we weren't skewered by a tree.

Cale turned back the kittens who have now left his arms. He picked up Hong and inspected his body before doing the same to On.

"We said we weren't hurt"

"There could still be something"

Cale placed On down as the dragon started to speak.

"I'm definitely not injured either!"

"Yes, yes. I doubt a great existence as yourself could get hurt by this" but he silently studied the dragon's visible body anyway.

Cale saw the dragons wings flutter slightly at his comment.

"Mmmm..." Cale stared out the window once again. If we go through the door, the knights might see movement.

He stood up and a sudden indescribable pain flashed throughout his body causing Cale to collapse instantly.

What the hell happened?

Cale's head violently throbbed to his discomfort, but was drowned out when every inch of his body was stabbed with pain. His hearing dulled and his eyes shook. He started panting and tightly gripped the seat that was now the wall.

It's feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife, over and over again, everywhere on me.

[CALE? Can you hear me?]

[Cale? Oh no! He's not responding!]

[Please answer me!]

[EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALM DOWN!]

[I AM CALM!]

[WHY IS EVERYONE SCREAMING?!]

Cale felt like telling them to shut up but he couldn't muster the effort.

He slowly looked at the children who now looked concerned and frightened. When they noticed his gaze they looked like they were talking but Cale couldn't hear anything.

Ah, the pain is slowly fading.

As Cale's body relaxed, he started to hear the kids voices.

"Cale? What's wrong? What are you like this?" On had red eyes as she rubbed her head against his leg.
