(My mom let me stay home from school today, so I took the opportunity to finish up another chapter. Two chapters in two days, you're welcome 😁)

Cyra/Chaos's POV

Fire.

Now, there was nothing but ash. I walked around the ruins of the village I had destroyed the night before. I looked around, seeing if there were any dragons that were still trapped. Scorched bodies littered the ground, unrecognizable. The only thing left of the buildings were charcoaled walls sticking out of the ground.

"Come on Star Gazer," I said, turning to the dragon behind me, "There's nothing here."

I was about to get on the Star Fury's back when I heard something in the distance. I turned and looked around, but the only movement was the wind blowing ash around and a burnt flag waving around.

"Probably a sheep or bore." I muttered, turning my back again.

The noise rang out again, this time more audible. It was too high pitched to be a farm animal, but it could be a dragon.

Keeping my guard up, I continued to walk around, keeping my ears open for the noise.

"Hello?"

I nearly pissed myself. It wasn't a dragon or animal, it was a human.

"Hello!" I called out, trying to figure out which direction it was coming from.

"Help!" The voice yelled back.

Star Gazer's head nubs popped up, and she started sniffing the air.

"Find them girl." I said, pulling my sword out.

The voice sounded to be in distress, but you could never be too careful. This could be a trick, the survivors trying to get my guard down so they could attack.

Star Gazer sniffed the air a bit more before finding the scent and running after it. I followed after her, keeping an eye out for any places where people could hide. After a few moments, Star Gazer stopped in front of a large house. Its walls were made of stone, meaning it was able to survive the fire better than the others. If I had to guess, a noble or high ranked person lived here.

"Someone! Anyone!" The voice yelled, now clear as day. I could now tell that the person had been crying, and they sounded confused and scared.

"Stay here and keep an eye out." I told Star Gazer.

Star Gazer did as she was told and sat down near the front door of the house, her head high and her ears perked up. Cautiously, I walked up to the front door and tried to open it. It didn't budge, probably held shut by fallen debris. I grumbled in frustration before taking a step back. Then, with all my strength, I kicked the door and watched as it fell open.

"Take that." I said confidently.

Sword at the ready, I carefully stepped into the house. It looked like it was at least two stories with multiple rooms, proving my suspicion of a high ranking family living here. The stone floors were covered in ash and wooden beams from the roof caving in, and most of the furniture was broken or burnt.

"Is someone up there?" The voice called out.

"That means they're below me." I thought to myself, "There's probably a basement in this place."

I quickly looked around for a door or hatch that would lead to the area below me, but it was hard to find anything through the rubble. I walked around the inside of the house until I heard a creaking underneath me. I looked down and saw the floor here was wood, not stone.
