Jo's POV
A little later...

Pacing.

I can't stop pacing.

What have I done, what am I willing to do is crazy, right? I mean killing my father isn't something I want to do, but it also isn't something I need to do either. I don't think Hero understands the stakes of this. I don't think he ever will.

I feel a tear roll down my cheek. My mother would be so disappointed in me for even considering this. I wipe it away when I hear a knock at the door. "Come in," I say and when the door opens I see Maia.

"Felix is good by the way, he's going through withdrawal already," she says and I just nod. "Jo we should really talk-" I cut her off.

"Where's my father," I ask softly and look at her. Her face drops and I immediately know I'm not gonna like the answer. "Maia... where is he?"

"He's downstairs, one of the basement levels. I think the lowest one," she answers and I stare blankly at her until I feel the anger set in.

"You're telling me he's in the building?" I ask calmly, if I don't ask calmly I might end up killing someone, and it won't be my father.

"Yes," is all she says before I push past her and rush down the hall to the elevator. Who authorized the transfer here because it definitely wasn't me.

I can't help but push the button repeatedly even though I know it won't make the elevator move any faster. He's going to be dead, I know it. There's too many people from Tranquillity here for him not to be dead. The elevator stops on the third floor and Hero gets in, pressing the button to the first floor.

"Why are you going all the way down?" He asks, anger clearly present in his tone.

"I can't tell you, sensitive information," I say softly, trying to not convey how nervous I am. The elevator stops and he holds the door open, looking at me.

"What you did to Felix..." he trails off and I watch as his mind goes to a million different places.

"He's okay now, that's what matters. I proved my point and that's the end of it," I say, just trying to get him to go away. Our conversation from before isn't done, but it can't continue right now.

"And what was your point exactly?" He says, now getting pissed. I sigh and and fight the urge to hit the close door button.

"To show you I have the power here. I can hit you where it hurts whenever I want too. That we can love the worst of people if we want too. Life is full of options and choices, never ultimatums. But most importantly, I won't be taking demands from you anymore, and if you demand something of me there will be repercussions." I say to him and he just backs away from the door. I watch his face turn from shock to sadness as the door closes.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, I'm on the third basement level which is the lowest you can go. There's someone coming toward me that I don't recognize, someone who isn't one of my people. Simultaneously, we both draw our guns.

"Josephine, it was a matter of time before you got down here," the woman says to me and I can't think of who it could be. I've never seen this person before.

"Who are you," I ask, but it's more of a demand. She smiles at me, slowly walking closer with her gun drawn. I don't back up though, I stand firm.

"My name is Elizabeth," she says and I shake my head a bit. It's more of a gesture to myself. I have no idea who this woman is. "You wouldn't know me but I'm a friend of Hero's," I suck in a small breath, so small it's barely noticeable. "He tasked me in finding and bringing your father here. Once he was here I was to find him again."
