Hero's POV
3 years later...I gonna fucking kill somebody.
"Are all of you physically incompetent? Move the boxes from this room to the room behind you. You've had a day already, what the hell happened?" I say and they groan a bit, but begin moving again.
I go back into my office in our new larger space and continue to unpack the boxes in here. For the past three fucking years her words have played on repeat in my head. I'll always love you the same way Hero, even if you don't love me the same way. Like fucking hell I can't move on.
At the time I was angry, really fucking angry, but I still loved her. My head was clouded and I immediately knew two days later that she was right and that time would fix us.
I can't believe I haven't seen her since that day.
Well not technically.
I saw her once, in passing, while she was talking to someone. She was in deep conversation, like she was explaining something complicated and the person couldn't get it wrong. She was completely in her element and I'm just happy I didn't take that away from her. She's still who she always was, just more so now rather a few years ago.
"Hero," Morgan says and I turn around, looking at him. I surprisingly haven't gone off the deep end, but I've also been focusing on something that's been very important from me since the start of all of this. "We found him," he says and I smile.
"Where is he?" I ask and Morgan walks into the hall. I follow him to one of the only rooms that's set up and see all the screens on the wall. "What the fuck am I looking at?"
"The red dot is him. He's in New Orleans, we sent a team out to get him but not kill him." Felix tells me, who's sitting in a chair below me.
"Good, I want to ask him a few things before we finally kill him. Good work," I say and walk back to my office. I pull out a bunch of things and place them on the book shelf. I wonder what Jo would think of all of this. Stop. I have to stop thinking about her. It's been three years, she probably doesn't want me now.
I quickly finish up and go back into the room with Felix. "What? You're hovering," he says and I chuckle a bit, sitting down next to him.
"That's a weird place for him to be you know," I say and Felix nods, clearly his mind is in somewhere else but he's too nice sometimes to not answer in a conversation.
"Yeah, especially for him to be on Bourbon Street," he says and I nod, chuckling a bit.
"At least the bastard has finally come out of hiding," I say, but he shakes his head a little bit.
"Something is off, I don't like the feel of this," Felix says and I run my hands through my hair.
"Why? You're the one who sent a team out to get him, he's out in the open, there's only so much he can do," I say and Felix nods a bit.
"But why now? After all these years of being a ghost story, why does he come out now? What lured him out of the shadows?" Felix asks, and they are fair questions, but I just don't see it that way.
"We'll find out once we catch him," I say and Felix sighs.
"We're not the only ones looking for him Hero, a lot of people want him dead just as much as you do. So if he's on the grid again, he's being strategic about it," Felix says and I shrug, getting up.
"We'll get him, I know we will," I say and walk back into my office, hoping I'm right and we'll finally get him.
