"You are somebody that I don't know"

***April's POV***

Last Day of School

Much to Jack's dismay, we wait in the parking lot for Izzy to come out of the school. All of us have lockers at the pool where we keep extra suits and towels since we're regulars, and Medda loves us. Medda owns all the Grounds, and she's my unofficial therapist. Jack's known her the longest since she's his dad's friend, but once we all became friends and started going to the pools together, we've been unofficially adopted by Medda. I would rather have her as mother anyway, so I don't mind.

"IZZY!" I yell as she starts to walk down the steps.

She looks up from her phone and waves. "Hey guys!"

I take in the fact that she's not walking with anybody and how she looks happy to see us. Izzy is a year younger than all of us, and she just moved to our school at the beginning of this school year after her mom married Jack's dad in the summer. She was on my JV volleyball and basketball team this year, which is how I got to know her. We hung out a lot, and I didn't see her hang out with a lot of people besides that. She told me that she made some friends in the beginning of the year, but they seemed fake, so she slowly started getting away from them. Which is why I've been inviting her to hang out with the rest of us.

I beckon her towards us, and she pockets her phone, starting to walk towards us. Jack drops his head into his hands behind me and I step on his foot, making him look up at me.

"Hey Izzy," I say as she reaches us. "You ready for a good summer?"

Izzy shrugs. "Sure. I guess. I don't know what I'm going to do, but yeah, I'm ready for school to be done."

I laugh. "Yep, well we're free for two months now."

"We're going to the pool right now, you wanna come?" Crutchy asks from besides me.

Izzy smiles brightly at him. Crutchy always makes people smile. "I would love to, but I don't have a swimsuit." Her gaze slides to Jack. "Plus, I don't think everyone wants me to come."

Sarah reaches out and touches her arm. "Oh please, don't mind him. He's always a little grumpy. We would love for you to come. And I have an extra swimsuit at the pool. It should fit you."

Izzy hesitates, still looking at Jack.

Finally, he sighs. "It's fine if you wanna come."

Izzy breaks out into a grin. "Ok, then yeah, I'll come."

We get to the pool and there's not a whole lot of people there. Some other kids from school are there, but most of the families are gone right now. Most parents don't get out of work until 5, so we have around 2 hours before any craziness should happen.

"Well, look who the cat dragged in!" Medda exclaims as she steps out of the snack shop building.

"Medda!" We all say, rushing towards her to give her a group hug.

Medda laughs. "Hello children!"

"Hi Medda!" We say back, laughing and stepping away from her.
