"Baby love, I think I've been a little too kind"
***April's POV***
February
One Week Until Brooklyn vs. Manhattan Game
Snowcoming"You know, I may be the only one of us without a date, but I'm still excited for snowcoming," I say as Sarah finishes braiding my hair into a braid crown.
"Well obviously, we all are," Izzy says. "Even if I wasn't going with Mush, I would still be excited."
That's right, Mush finally stepped up and admitted his feelings, meaning Izzy and him are basically almost dating.
"Lots of the boys don't have dates either, April," Sarah reminds me. "Crutchy, Blink, and Davey don't."
"Well Mush, Jack, and Skittery do," I say, fake pouting and crossing my arms. "And two of those are going with you."
"Wait guys, did Race get a date?" Izzy asks.
"I don't know." Sarah shrugs. "Nobody really talks to him much anymore."
I frown. "I thought he was still friends with the boys."
"Well, they kinda are, but we also know how he treated you badly, and we don't like that. So, we're all slowly dropping him."
"I didn't know that," I say, laughing. "He was really walking all over my peace of mind though. He deserves to be dropped after he acted like that. The audacity to ask if I wanted help this basketball season when he hadn't talked to me since Homecoming was crazy."
"Do you ever miss him as a best friend though?" Izzy asks, checking her reflection in the mirror once more. We're about to head out with the boys.
I shrug. "Not really. I had Spot to distract me at first, but now I also have you guys."
"How are you and Spot?" Sarah asks, fixing a piece of my hair.
"Not great. We haven't really talked since our fight. He just texted me last night to let me know he was going to Brooklyn's snowcoming tonight with Ace."
"I told you those Brooklyn boys aren't worth it," Izzy says, shaking her head. "What's our song for the night? Homecoming was '22', so what's this dance?"
I stand up and we all stand together in front of my mirror. "Um, obviously it's 'Bejeweled' because you best believe we're still bejeweled." I gesture at all of our shimmering dresses.
"WHEN I WALK IN THE ROOM, I CAN STILL MAKE THE WHOLE PLACE SHIMMER!" We all shout at the same time.
Izzy turns to me. "And when you meet the band and they ask, 'do you have a man?'"
I turn and start strutting across the room, encouraged by the girls laughing. "I can say, 'I don't remember'."
"Girls, c'mon, it's picture time!" Mom yells from downstairs. That's right, my parents are actually around for this dance. Or at least my mom is.
Sarah and Izzy follow me downstairs where Mom makes us stand with all the boys while she takes a ton of pictures and frets about how Crutchy looks. Not even paying attention to me.
"Wait, I just noticed, where's Race?" Mom finally asks when we convince her she has enough pictures.
Jack jumps in with a shrug. "He didn't want to get ready with the rest of us, I'm not sure why."
Mom frowns. "Oh. Well, okay. You guys go on and have fun!"
We all say bye and start heading towards the door, but my mom calls me back.
