"I, I loved you in secret"
***April's POV***
💅Manhattan Girlies✨
Me: Do you guys still wanna come over tonight? Much drama. Bring ice cream and other comfort foods. We're doing karaoke too, so prepare your voices.
Sarah: ofc! I got the ice cream. Hope everything's okay :)
Izzy: we'll fight him, no worries. I'll grab some chocolate and chips. Looking for the best Taylor Swift songs rn
Me: thanks, you guys are the best. love you<3
Sarah: Love you too babes, see you in a little bit
Izzy: 💞💞I go downstairs with my phone and find the old karaoke machine from my childhood in a closest. It doesn't work anymore, but the microphones do. I grab bowls and plates from the kitchen and start setting up the living room. I grab blankets and pillows so we can sleep in the living room instead of in my room. Spot had turned my bed into a sacred oasis and now I can't sleep there.
Am I surprised that we're done? No, not really. I just can't believe the timing. We literally said we loved each other last night, and now he's breaking up with me. It's crazy. I'm so mad at Crutchy right now. He has no right to be mad at me, when he can't even keep a secret. I'm 16, I'm allowed to hang out with people my friends don't like. Just because I loved Spot in secret doesn't mean anything. I loved him despite of the fears that my friends would find out and divide us. I was a mess, but a mess that Spot wanted. But then my friends found out and people were going to talk. They would put us through our paces, and I know there was no one in the world who could take it. Maybe Spot did the right thing.
Spot and I loved without reason, but as teenagers how were we to know this is how it was going to end up? My love had been frozen before Spot painted me golden. He held me close every night and now how am I supposed to get over that? If it was gravity keeping him with me, then I guess gravity is gone. This is why I have trust issues.
Sarah and Izzy get to my house quicker than I expected.
"Do you wanna talk or do karaoke first?" Sarah asks, taking a look at my setup.
I take the ice cream from her and put it in the freezer. "Karaoke for sure."
Sarah chooses the song first and she chooses "Stick Season" by Noah Kahan, which we all sing along too. Izzy chooses "10 Things I Hate About You" by Leah Kate, which we also sing.
"What are you choosing?" Sarah asks as I scroll on my phone, looking for songs.
I gasp when I find the one. "'Dancing With Our Hands Tied'."
"Ooh yes, I love that song," Izzy gasps.
I pull up the karaoke version and it starts playing on the TV.
"I could've spent forever with your hands in my pockets
Picture of your face in an invisible locket
You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it
I had a bad feeling," I sing into the microphone. The beat drops and we all start dancing."But we were dancing!
Dancing with our hands tied, hands tied!
Yeah we were dancing!
Like it was the first time, first time!
Yeah, we were dancing!
And I had a bad feeling!
But we were dancing!" We all sing. We sing the rest of the song together, dancing because it's such a slay song, until we get to the end, and I jump on the couch and the girls stop to watch me.
