"If It's Magic," Stevie Wonder

When Aidan and I arrived at the mansion, we checked on Lucas first. He would have to stay away from humans and immortals as much as possible during the next few days. So Amaury left with Anna, leaving Lucas with James.

Once certain that everything was alright, I led Aidan to my bedroom. We showered and changed our clothes. We talked very little but stayed close together at all times, taking comfort in each other presence.

After this claustrophobic day, I wanted to be outside. So we grabbed some warm covers and lay on the outdoor couch in the courtyard with warm tea and some biscuits. I rested my head on Aidan, my back against his chest, his arm around my waist. We were sheltered from the noises of the street and, under the pale light of the moon, the garden had this dreamlike quality.

"How are you feeling ?"

"Better, I think." He kissed the top of my head. "You were right. I needed to talk to him. Thank you for your support."

I rubbed my thumb on the back of his hand.

"I... I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry," he added, hesitating.

"What for, my love?"

"What I said to Stanislas... I... I hope it didn't hurt you."

"That you loved him? No, it did not." I could feel Aidan's heart beating a little bit faster. "My love, if you want him in your life, it is alright by me."

He tensed. "No, it... it's not what I want at all."

"Alright. But you have to understand that the only thing I want is for you to be happy. I love you and I know you love me. Nothing can make me doubt that."

"You're the one that I want."

I chuckled and turned around. "Come here. Dance with me." I stood up and extended my hand towards him.

He looked at me, amused, and joined me. We swang slowly to the rhythm of a song I played in our minds. At first, my right hand was in his, but then I left it to snake my arms around his waist. He stroked my back slowly. "I love you," he said.

A light rain started to fall and I looked at him. He smiled, holding me even tighter. And I rested my head on his chest again, drunk on the scent of him and the rain.
