Author here... I'm gonna stop geeking out over how many reads this is getting and I'm just gonna keep writing. This gives me a ton of motivation.
Anyhoo: Here's the rest of episode one...
Enjoy the chapter!
-The beginning of the chapter brought to you by a chibi Fu Hua drinking some boba after a long day of training-
Guild Receptionist: "Alright, that checks out five wolf horns for five wolf horns. Say... what about that sixth one?"
Y/n: "Don't worry about it. I'm keeping it as a memento for our first mission together!"
Guild Receptionist: "Alright then! Please present your guild cards and I'll update them right away!"The guild receptionist held a stamp over the card that Y/n had presented, and a magic circle formed under it. Y/n, Elze, and Linse watched in awe as it changed the information that appeared on the card.
Guild Receptionist: "And here's your reward: eighteen copper coins! Have a nice day!"-Scene change brought to you by Y/n drinking some hot chocolate-
Linse: "Thanks for joining us on that mission, Y/n!"
Elze: "Yeah! It would've been way harder without you!"
Linse: "There aren't many guys who can keep up with sis that easily."
Y/n: "It wasn't too bad though. Hey... I've got a favor to ask of you."
The silver haired twins gain inquisitive looks on their faces.
Y/n: "I was wondering if you could teach me how to read and write... It's kind of an inconvenient skill to not have... heheh..."
Y/n scratches the back of his head in embarrassment while giving a close-eyed sheepish smile.
Elze: "Especially if you can't tell what job your taking... But if you wanna learn, then Linse is the one to teach you."
Linse perks up at the sound of her name.
Elze: "She reads for fun sometimes. It's a genius thing."
Linse blushes and looks down shyly.
Linse: "I'm not that smart. But even so... I'll try."
Y/n: "Thank you so much! Also, I might as well ask but, can you teach me magic too? I'd like to take a crack at it."
Elze: "That's a difficult question to answer. Do you have an aptitude?"
Y/n: "Aptitude?"
Y/n hopes to himself that he actually does have an aptitude for magic, as it would be really cool if he did. He believes he could take on anything if he had some magic. But as he remembers what God said, he thinks he should have the aptitude for magic.
Linse: "Well, people can only use magic with the aptitude their born with. And people without any aptitude can't use magic, no matter what they try."
Y/n: "Interesting... I haven't tried anything magic related but I recently met with somebody who seemed very convinced that I could."
Elze: "And who might that be?"
Y/n: "Uhhhhhhh... and old guy with glasses."
Elze: "Hmmmm..."
Linse pulls out a bag from her pocket and dumps its contents onto the table, revealing seven gems of different colors. The colors were white, red, yellow, blue, purple, orange, and green.
Linse: "These are called spellstones. They absorb, store, and release magical energy. Hmmm How to do this... Well, I guess water would be the easiest to demonstrate."
Linse picks up the blue gem from the table and holds it over her cup.
Linse: "Come forth, water."
The spellstone glows blue and a stream of water comes out of it, filling the cup.
Linse: "This is called active magic. You say 'Come forth, water' and channel some mana into the stone, and it creates this water in response."
Elze: "And by the way..."
Elze reaches over and takes the stone from Linse's hands.
Elze: "Come forth, water."
Nothing happens.
Elze: "If you don't have the aptitude for water magic, then you might as well be talking to a regular pebble."
Y/n: "Wait, so you can't use it even thought your sister can?"
Elze: "It's not something I'm proud of so don't be so direct."
Linse: "On the other hand, Elze can use fortification magic while I never could. It's not that one of us is more magical, it's just that we have different aptitudes! Which is probably why we work so well together. Everyone alive has magical energy, but aptitudes are what allow us to channel it into magic spells."
Y/n: "So If I try to use the spellstone for water... We'll know if I have that aptitude?"
Linse: "Yep! Just hold the stone, channel your mind, and say 'Come forth, water'!"
Y/n takes the stone from Linse, but as soon as his fingers touch it, it shoots water out like a fire hose, causing him to drop it, but not before soaking his shirt and face, drenching his head and body in water, but leaving his cloak untouched, thanks to it's water-proof properties.
Y/n: "What the-!... I didn't even say the command!"
Elze: "Woah."
Elze and Linse have a shocked expression on their faces as their mouths drop open.
Y/n: "You said you had some more of these stones?"
Linse: "Yes... seven total."
Elze: "I think we should head out back before we try more..."
Linse: "More like leave town first."
Y/n: "Yeah... Let's go."
