The rain returned to the city, casting dark ominous clouds as far as the eye could see. Heavy downpour rattled against the roof throughout the night, creating a blanket of white noise that comforted the couple as they slept. The rain slowed during the days, but never ceased, drenching the green spaces and slicking the roads.
Gerard fastened the buttons on his shirt, tutting to himself as he noticed it felt tighter than when he had wore it last. Frank skipped excitedly into the room. "You look amazing," Frank mewled into the elder's neck, eradicating any nagging thoughts in his mind. "Are you still meeting with your broker guy today?"
Gerard turned from the mirror as he carefully rolled his sleeves to his elbows, "Yeah, he wants me to assemble some collections to send off for installations or something, I'm not quite sure." Gerard noticed Frank lifting his shirt and looking at his stomach closely in the mirror, immediately worrying him. "Hon, what's going on?" he asked with panic obvious in his tone.
"I just can't believe there's no trace from the knives," Frank laughed as Gerard wrapped his arms tightly around him, breathing a sigh of relief.
"I'm just super gentle," Gerard purred into his ear, "I can show you again tonight, if you'd like." Frank blushed as Gerard continued to mutter dirty things, teasing him. "Right, well you should finish getting ready, Ray will be here any minute." Frank moaned frustrated as Gerard left him hot and bothered, but headed down the stairs to put on his shoes as the elder followed. "I'll take the package to the post office today, as well." Gerard motioned with his head to the box containing their blood vials on the table by the door.
Frank smiled as he passed the box, knowing what a creepy, gross, unique, romantic future he had ahead of him with Gerard. He finished lacing his shoes as his phone buzzed, 'here' Ray sent. Gerard walked Frank down the pathway to Ray's car, holding an umbrella over his partner's head dutifully. "Ray, look after him. I'll kill you if anything happens," Gerard warned as Ray mocked him back by mouthing along to his threats. Frank giggled as Gerard closed his door for him, watching to make sure he buckled up before they pulled away.
"So, watcha hoping to get outta today?" Ray asked as he fiddled with the stereo.
"I don't know, really.." Frank thought as he wasn't sure what to expect from the experience. "Maybe some new pick ups or something," he pondered as he remembered Gerard pleading for him to use his credit card to buy things for himself.
"Yeah, for sure man, there will be tons." Ray tapped his fingers on the steering wheel along to the music, "I know Gerard kinda put you on the spot the other day, but I would love to pick your brain, if you're up for it."
"Oh, uh, I'm not really a musician or anything, I just taught myself by sitting and playing along to music," Frank stifled.
"Well, not that I don't trust you, but I've known Gerard for over ten years now so I'm inclined to trust his judgement."
"He's biased," Frank countered.
"Very possible. No pressure though, just think about it." Ray smiled as he kept his eyes on the road. They parked close to the entrance and walked in while Ray recounted stories from his and Gerard's past. Frank's love for his husband to be grew with every story, whether it was sad, happy, gut wrenching, or funny- he loved seeing a new side of Gerard. "I'm just really happy he has you," Ray offered, causing Frank to relax as if he was accepted by his family.
The pair wandered around the convention floor, talking shop with booth attendants and playing with instruments as they came across them. Frank and Ray bonded as they defended Epiphone's superiority at the Fender rep's booth, taking a handful of free picks as they ran away. In the end, Frank had such a great time with Ray, he loosened up and not only bought himself new pickups, but also another entire guitar.
