CHAPTER SIX.

—IZETA AND BUCKY were still in the alleyway, the woman rolled her eyes at Bucky's flabbergasted state.
"I mean I called her because they've done so much for us for years, Bucky. If I hadn't called them, it would've been the worst kind of betrayal there is." Izeta said honestly, and Bucky nodded in understanding, expecting her to add something more to her sentence.
"What?" Izeta huffed, looking at his expectant expression, "No snarky remark about how I'd know all about betrayal?" He asked, shoving his hands in his pockets.
The witch scoffed at the man in front of her, "Do you want a snarky remark?"
"Not necessarily." Bucky shortly said, shrugging his shoulders as he looked at the buildings around them.
"Look Bucky, before we started a romantic relationship, we were great friends. We understood each other and we took care of each other. It'll never be like that again, and I don't really want it to be like that again. But if we're going to spend days on end with each other because of this mission, I need to not want to murder you every time I see you." Izeta started, taking a seat on a large stone, and Bucky nodded in agreement.
"So, I think we should set some things straight." Izeta said, and Bucky cleared his throat, "I'm going first."
Izeta let her hand make a gesture for him to continue, "I still don't want to be a father. My feelings won't just change because I'm spending time with you and Sylvina again. She's a great kid, and you did a wonderful job raising her. And I know I'm a dick for this, but I can't do it. I used to think I wanted a child with you because I loved you, but then she was there, she was right in front of my eyes. And I knew I loved her—I could've loved her and I could've raised her with you. But that's not what I wanted. There's no doubt that Sam has been the best dad for her, and that's a permanently filled spot now. And, I don't mind. I want to be there for her and I'd like to see her every once in a while, but not as her dad."
