As soon as I said goodbye to Luna and left my room, I grabbed some discarded items from the store room at the end of the hallway and headed to the elevators. As I was going down to the ground floor, the elevator I was in suddenly stopped on the fourth floor and the door started to open. For a moment I wondered why this happened since I pressed the button that takes me to the ground floor and not to this specific floor.
That's when the doors opened and I found Meg looking at me from outside the elevator. In other words, she was the one who called the elevator to this floor and I didn't notice.
Meg: - Oh, hey. I didn't know you had arrived. Are you going up or down?
Hannah: - Down.
Meg: - Great. - She said as she got in the elevator with me. - Let's go down together.
Then Meg pressed the button that leads to the ground floor and the doors closed. As the elevator went down, she looked at me and spoke again.
Meg: - So. How was the mission at the pharmacy? Have you ventured outside a lot?
Hannah: - Not bad. I mean, some unforeseen events happened, but I came back in one piece. I managed to get Luna's medicine and gave her some right after I arrived.
Meg: - That's good to hear. That little girl will finally be able to exist without being in pain and coughing all day long. You did very good deeds today, Hannah. This makes me admire you even more. Especially for what you did for us earlier today.
Hannah: - I'm just using my gifts for good. And trying to help as much as I can.
Meg: - And you're doing it surprisingly well. Well to a fault, actually. If you keep it up, we won't be able to repay you in the same way.
Hannah: - The fact that you guys let me live in this shelter is enough for me. Wandering around can be cool and stuff, but it's good to have a place to live. I like to feel alive and know that I belong to a good place with good people. Well, some of them.
Meg: - I like how you think. You're humble beyond belief. And the way you act makes it hard not to idolize you. That must be why you became so famous.
Hannah: - Maybe this is a consequence of my actions. I like being good to people because it usually brings good results. Both for them and for me.
Meg: - You're the type who likes to help rather than be helped, right?
Hannah: - Kinda like that. Seeing people happy because of something I did is rewarding. Especially with kids like Luna. This is priceless.
Meg: - Damn. This conversation is making me more sentimental than usual. And let it be noted that I'm already quite sentimental.
Hannah: - Talking about good things has this effect. It's good to ignore the fact that the world is ending outside and pretend that everything is fine inside. It doesn't last long, but at least it's better than going crazy. We should do this more often.
Meg: - See? You keep giving me reasons to become your biggest fan. It's your fault for making me admire you so much.
Hannah: - Well, I've been inspired by someone since I got here. I think there is more than one culprit in this story.
Meg: - Hm... Does that mean we're connected?
Hannah: - It seems so. I like to relate to someone.
Meg: - Since it is so, can I switch bodies with you and become a cute blonde for a day? I bet I'll be able to make a lot of people fall in love.
Hannah: - What?
Meg: - What?
As soon as Meg said that, we were silent for a while and the atmosphere became a little awkward. I don't know what she meant by that, but... Was she flirting? Maybe that's just her way of being. Looks like she likes to say unexpected things to make people embarrassed. In a good way, of course. She must do that to Harry too.
