(Y/N) POV:
Joel's condition had only worsened fading in and out of consciousness,
I was freaking out and so was Ellie but we had to stay focused if we wanted to get Joel to a safe place and stop him from bleeding out
After failed attempts to lift Joel back onto the horse, Ellie had the idea to place him in a sleeping bag and attach it to the horse like a sledge sorta thing
When we reached a neighborhood, we analyzed every building on high alert looking for somewhere to hide
Deciding on a brown and White House we forced our way through the garage door and hauled Joel's body inside and down a set of steep stairs into the cellar,
leaving the horse in the garageEllie ran upstairs saying something about a mattress as I carefully laid an unconscious Joel down on the cold floor soon
enough Ellie returned heaving a mattress down into the basement"Help me get him on"
Ellie ordered,
panic in her eyes as she noticed the amount of blood seeping through Joel's shirtTogether we rolled Joel onto it, He let out a pained yelp as he turned onto his back, hands clutching at his blood-covered stomach
"Shit" I flinched
Ellie jumped into action tearing up an old sheet into strips to use as bandages. I pulled back the towel we had been pressing to Joel's wound in an attempt to stop him bleeding out, and reapplied the pressure
He let out a wheeze, grabbing my arm, and trying to make me stop
"Ah, fuck, fuck, fuck."
I muttered. "Come on, you gotta help me. Come on."
I fought against Joel trying to keep pressure on the wound"Stop moving!" Ellie scolded
"Leave." Joel mouthed, desperation in his eyes
No way we were going to leave him so I just ignored his comment and continued to keep pressure on his injury, my eyes welling up with tears as I made eye contact with him
"Leave." He repeated
"Shut up, Joel." Ellie hissed
"Take the gun." Joel began
"Joel, shut the fuck up!"
Ellie yelled, holding her head in her hands"You go. You go north You go to Tommy. You go."
He begged, holding onto my wrist weaklyEllie got to her feet and pulled Joel's jacket over him like a blanket. Tucking it high up under his chin, I stepped away leaving the towel over his wound.
Ellis escaped up the stairs mumbling something along the lines of
'This house better fucking have a med kit'I reached over and held onto Joel's hand giving it a gentle squeeze, as he looked up at me with teary eyes
Ellie POV:
As I arrived at the top of the stairs I stopped a wave of dizziness coming over me making me feel physically sick, The sight of Joel bleeding out down there imprinted on the inside of my eyelids...
I rushed into the main house Searching through every drawer and cabinet looking for any medication. Finding nothing.
I overturned the bathroom Coming up empty. My frantic search ended in the kitchen where I fought with a stubborn drawer, swearing at it until I finally forced it open, its contents clattering to the floor.
I froze when I noticed a needle and thread sitting on the kitchen tiles not wasting any more time I snatched it up and ran down into the basement back to (Y/N) and Joel
As I approached the bottom of the stairs I could hear (Y/N) yelling something so I picked up my speed
"Wake up! Joel hey! Fuck!" she cried shaking Joel gently
I sprinted over grabbing Joel's hand giving it a squeeze reviving a weak squeeze back
"Look what I got, hey look at me.."
I held onto (Y/N)'s shoulder with my shaky hand "he's going to be okay just do as I say"
I reassured her trying to convince myself as well
"Okay. Remove the towel""Okay" she stuttered,
removing the bloodied towel, hissing at the sight of the blood pooling underneath itJoel's eyes slowly opened, looking up at (Y/N) with a distant look in his eyes
I took a deep breath before pouring alcohol from Joel's hip flask over the needle hoping that would sterilize it, the needle and pierced his flesh causing Joel to howl in pain
"Okay. Okay." I wasn't sure if I was reassuring Joel or myself as I continued to sew his wound, Out of the corner of my eye, I could see (Y/N) brushing her hand through Joel's Hair peering down at his face with concern.
Soon enough Joel's head rolled to the side and he passed out from the pain and I focused on getting his puncture wound closed.
