  Foster child :

  A minor child who is taken care of for a temporary commitment. The child can be taken into a family or into an organisation (child welfare) but only for a certain period. If the child meets her/his blood related family or relatives she/he can move along with them. The family who fostered her/him earlier will not have rights to stop or object.

Adoption:

   Adoption is a permanent commitment. The child was blessed to have a new family with parents to take care of, a sibling to share and grandparents to teach .

Under the guidelines brought by the union ministry of women and children development, children in the age group of 6-18 yrs , whose parents are under mental illness, poverty or imprisoned and those staying in child care institutions will be placed in foster care.
