The Foster child

Chapter-2.

When Prithvi said his decision everyone was dumbstruck. Prithvi is in his late 20's. He was not married. If he gets married in future and starts his own family then how will he be able to balance his responsibilities between take care of this new girl and his wife.

On the other hand Maya was immersed in her own thoughts. This is a new environment and this new family members are strangers to her. She lost her beloved parents and was left alone in the foster care. She is just 12 years old without a family. Till yesterday, she was under a protective shell called parents but now she does not know how cruel the world around her is nor knows how a human being can change his mask like a chameleon according to the situations.
Maya is new to this place(south India). She was not familiar with the language (Telugu). But the main fact is she is not familiar with the people with whom she was about to live with.
She had many questions in her mind and these questions made her worried about her future.
Maya is an extrovert kid. She mingles with people very easily and she is a sensible and smart kid. She is kind and a loving soul.

But due to a tragic incident , her situation became questionable.Now, Prithvi became the person she dislikes most. She was very angry with Prithvi. She lost her parents by saving him. If Prithvi is not in the picture, she would have led a peaceful life with her parents. She was brought to this situation because of him. She thought she could live in the foster care. She may not get the parental care there but, she could at least make some friends in future if she stayed there.
But, That thought was short lived when Prithvi volunteered to Foster her.
The person whom she is hating now , became her saviour. She want to vent out her thoughts but don't know how to express them. When she was in her dilemma, Dharani came to her rescue. She took her palm into her hand squeezed it warmly assuring her that everything will be fine.

A genuine smile formed on the face of Maya. Her parents death took a great toll on her. She felt very insecure and started to doubt everything. Prithvi tried to make her comfortable by initiating a little conversation during their journey but was not successful. Whereas Dharani understood her situation. She assumed her as her little sister. Everyone in the house felt bad for the little soul, but they seighed in relief when they saw their son safe.

So, Dharani spoke to her first and took her to her room. When Dharani and Maya walked away, Vikram spoke to Prithvi.

Vikram :
" Prithvi, you also take rest. You don't look good. Let's speak about this later. Let me help me to your room".

Prithvi:
" But dad, I want to know your opinion. Dad, I feel guilty for that little girl. I can't compensate her with anything other than taking her responsibility. I felt only money to fund her for education and other requirements will not make it possible. She is a kid and needs a family . So, I brought her with me. Did I make a wrong move"

Kasturi:
" Rey Prithvi, you are thinking too much. We feel sorry for her. The decision you took to take care of her is a genuine one and we are with you. Today you are alive because of her parents sacrifice. We are fortunate to them and the god but she was unlucky that she lost them in her earlier age.
But, don't worry. Let's give her a happy loving family. We will all take care of her.
She looks so lost ra and we can understand her situation. A child of her age should be very happy and lively but see how cruel the Fate is that it made her misreable.
But, let's give her some to cope up.lets ask her opinion also."

Vikram:
" What your mom said is true Prithvi. Let her settle down. Let's now rush things. She is a small kid. Let her stay with Dharani for the time being. Let's talk to her in the evening.
Till then, you take rest and let me help you to your room".

Saying this Vikram and Prithvi went to the room.

Seeing the father and son walking away, Kasturi thought of something and started praying the god
