The Foster child

Chapter-3.

When Vikram was thinking seriously about something, Kasturi came to their room. Seeing her husband deeply engrossed in his thoughts, she asked him.

Kasturi :
" What are you thinking  about so  seriously. How is Prithvi by the way. Did he sustain any internal injuries".

Vikram:
" That is what I am thinking about. He not only got  his leg and arm  fractured. But also got some burns on his back and stomach.  Luckily he didn't get any head injury. This time it  is a bit serious. Whenever he got injured during the training or in a mission, he would just stay there. We could only get to know about his condition after he was recovered. He doesn't want us to get worried . But this time it's different. It will take at least 3 months for him to recover completely.  Poor kid, he suffered a lot.Seeing him like this is making me worried. On top of that he got this additional responsibilities of taking care of that child.
We are not young anymore Kasturi.  I can't take much tension in my life. We already have a Dharani as a responsibility and if something happens to Prithvi in future what about that kid. I am thinking of getting Dharani  married to the best guy as early as possible and  as for  Prithvi , we shall find him a good match later. My priority is Dharani. Let me  speak to the marriage broker and speed up my search for the prospective groom. We should ask Prithvi if he had someone in mind for Dharani".

Kasturi:
" Oh dear. Dharani is only 21 years old. I agree that we are not young anymore and we should get her married before something happens to us. But, don't you think that even Prithvi should get married quickly.
See, he is 28 years old now and as you said  he has to take care of that kid. If he gets married , his wife can take care of the needs as well as that child. I am there for her  now and even Dharani is here but we can't stay with her for a lifetime right.
See I have an idea. Why don't we get Dharani married to Prithvi. She need not go anywhere. You need not worry about someone who would take care of your grand daughter. Because she will get  married  to our son.
Dharani will take care of everyone in our family and if something happens to us she will have our son. She will go no where and our son will also get a good wife.
What say?".

Vikram :
" Are out of your mind Kasturi. Prithvi is her maternal uncle. How could  you get them married. Can't you consider their age atleast ".

Kasturi:
" You are saying that Prithvi is her maternal uncle. So what, maternal  uncle can get married to
his niece and this custom is still followed here.
But, let me remind you. Prithvi and Dharani are not related by blood and coming to age difference ,Prithvi is only 7 years elder to her. That can't to consider as a huge age gap. Even if they start a family of their own after getting married , their off springs will not be born with any gentical problems. They know each other since childhood and they are a family even before getting into a sacred bond.
Maya is slowly getting a long with Dharani. If Dharani gets married to some other person and goes away, and if something happens to us, can you think that our Prithvi can take care of her alone.
A girl always needs a mother. She may not be related by blood but atleast someone who can understand her situation without telling it out.
So, just think ones. Dharani is the right match for our son."

Vikram:
" Seems like you are having  this thought from a long time.  Is  this the reason , why you opposed all those matches which I brought for Dharani.
Kasturi, you can't force the kids. You don't know what is in  Dharani's or Prithvi 's mind.. and I personally don't feel it appropriate to get our Prithvi married to Dharani.
Don't force me. Let me  continue my hunt for the best groom for Dharani. If I fail to get a good one then let's think of the option.
Till then keep all these thoughts to yourself. Don't discuss this with the kids and spoil their mind. Now go and do your work. Stop bothering me with your nonsense thoughts. Leave me alone for the time being ".
