Eva never learned how to do hair. Nor was she allowed to use magic to do so outside of Hogwarts. So, Narcissa gladly helped her.

The tall, blonde woman stuck the last pin into Evangeline's braid, "All done."

Eva smiled at herself in the mirror. She was very happy with how her hair turned out. "Thank you."

"Now go put your dress on."

Eva excitedly leapt up from the stool she was sitting on and quickly made her way to the dressing room where the dress was waiting for her.

She struggled to zip up the zipper on the dress. There was a knock on the dressing room door. "Yes?" She called out, expecting to hear Narcissa.

But it was Draco, "Do you need help?"

"Yeah." She smiled at the sound of his voice."Were just friends." She thought to herself. He opened the door slowly and entered. She turned around and held her hair against her shoulder to keep it out of the way, "Can you zip up the dress, please?"

"Yeah." He grabbed her waist gently and zipped up the zipper with ease. The dress fit her perfectly.

She turned around and smiled at him, "Thank you."

Draco and Evangeline arrived at Hogwarts together just in time for the Yule Ball. Draco began to laugh at her.

"What?!" She asked defensively in a playful manner. She couldn't prevent the smile on her face.

"You're wearing shoes."

"Am I supposed to go barefoot?"

"You can wear high heels. They actually go well with dresses." He sarcastically joked.

"I'm good. You just want to see my feet." She teased.

"Why would I want that?!"

"Because you're sick."

"I am not!"

Eva giggled at his sudden defense. She looked forward and saw Cedric. He was talking to her brother, but she didn't care about that. She missed him. She ran up to him and embraced him.

Cedric looked at Draco for a few seconds and turned back to Eva, "You arrived with Malfoy?"

"Yeah. I stayed at his place."

"You said you were staying at a friend's house."

"That's correct. He's my friend. And I wasn't welcome at yours."

"You didn't say Malfoy though."

"Okay, I'm sorry." Eva could sense Harry staring at her in the corner of her eye, but she did her best to ignore him. She didn't want to allow her despise for him to ruin her night that she took so long to get ready for.

"Can we talk?" Inquired Cedric.

She nodded.

The two of them walked over to the side of the hall. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for what he was about to say. Eva could feel the tension in her gut, and she didn't like it one bit. "I don't know if this is gonna work." He said.

"What are you talking about?" She questioned, her voice much softer than before. She knew exactly what he was talking about, but asked anyway.

"Us."

"Because I was staying at Draco's?"

"No." It was clear that Cedric wasn't liking this decision at all.

"Talk to me. Please." She pleaded.

"Harry told me you smoke quite a bit with that group of Slytherin boys. And I don't mind a bit of casual drinking here and there, but smoking bothers me." He explained, "And I just don't want to be with someone who does that kind of thing."

"Why do this before the Yule Ball?"

"He just told me right now. I'm sorry, Eva."

"It's okay. I understand."

Cedric nodded and headed into the great hall. Eva looked around for a bit, hoping to see Draco, but everyone had already gone inside the great hall. Tears began to stream down her face.

She was alone.

She was more upset that Harry would choose to inform Cedric on such a matter right before a big night like this. Why couldn't he have waited til after?
