Blaise & Evangeline were never on the best of terms, given Blaise was a bit of a prick. But Evangeline was glad he was being okay to her at the New Years party. If it weren't for him, she'd be alone at this party.

Eva did her best to ignore the Gryffindors who weren't big fans of hers. Such as her brother, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley etc.

Everyone was in conversation with others when the party was interrupted by a boy yelling, "Get your hands off me you filthy squib!"

A man who was near balding held Draco by his arms behind his back, "Professor Slughorn, Sir, I've just discovered this boy lurking in an upstairs corridor. He claims to have been invited to your party."

The boy was Draco. And he was not invited.

"He's my plus one!" Yelled Evangeline. Everyone's eyes turned to her. She walked over to Draco and held his upper arm, "I've been waiting for him."

The man let go of Draco and Eva faced him, "I'm sorry about the trouble...Professor?" She waited for him to introduce himself.

"It's just Filch." He hissed and walked away. Eva walked Draco to Blaise, as she held his arm. She felt comforted by being able to hold him.

He gently took his arm out of hers, "You didn't have to do that, Evangeline." He whispered aggressively.

"I kind of did. If it weren't for me, who knows what kind of trouble your ass would be in right now?" She retorted.

"Why do you even care?"

Blaise chuckled.

Draco turned his head towards Blaise, "Amused, Blaise?"

"God damn, Draco. You're an idiot."

"How? Enlighten me."

"You don't know why she cares?" He pointed at her lazily.

Eva looked at Blaise, a little confused, but also anxious for what he'd say.

"You want to tell me or are you just going to stand there and smart mouth me?"

The boy laughed again, "I'll let you figure it out." He then walked in the direction of the exit.

Draco turned to the girl who stood below him, "You wanna tell me what he's talking about?"

"What else would he be talking about? We're friends. Friends do things like this for each other. I have your back."

"I don't need you to have my back."

"Everyone needs someone."

"Don't bullshit me, Eva."

"Why are you being such a dick to me when I'm just trying to support you?"

"I don't need your support, Eva. Just leave me alone."

She huffed, "Fine, but tell your parents to give you my wand. I left it at your house." She stormed off, holding angry tears back as best as she could.
