It was the day Hogwarts students would be returning for the next semester. Evangeline sat in the common room excitedly, waiting for who she felt was her only true friend, Mattheo.
Draco came down from the staircase that led to the boy's dormitories. He had a wand in each hand.
Evangeline looked up from the book she had her nose in and she saw Draco coming towards the couch she sat on. He held out her wand.
She took it from his hand gently, "Thank you."
"Mhm."
He was going to walk away, but Eva interrupted him, "How are you?"
He looked at her coldly, "I'm fine. I thought I told you to leave me alone."
"I'm sorry." She replied, "I just wanted to check up on you."
"Well, don't."

Draco had really hurt Eva's feelings, but that didn't matter now that Slytherin students coming back from break were flooding the common room.
"Boo!" A familiar voice said while grabbing Eva's shoulders aggressively. She jumped, turned around and playfully smacked Mattheo on the chest.
He hopped over the back of the couch and sat next to her, "How was break?"
"It was okay. What about you?"
"Same. Where's Draco?"
"I don't know."
"I expected you two to be hanging out."
"I guess...we aren't on speaking terms."
"What happened?"
"Draco is mad at me."
"Why?"
Eva sighed, "He's going through things and I was tryna be there for him, but he didn't want that, so he got mad. And now whenever I try to talk to him, he blows me off."
Mattheo rolled his eyes, "He's probably just embarrassed because he showed emotion in front of you."
"I guess." She shrugged.
"Don't take it personal. It's just Draco."
"It's a little hard not to." She shut the book that was in her lap. "I don't know how to make up for it. Draco was my first friend here."
"Just give him space, he'll come around."
"I'm worried about him."
"He's fine. Trust me."
Eva wanted to trust Mattheo, but there was something weird about his lack of worry or care. He was so certain that Draco is fine when he hasn't even seen the things she did.
