In a dimly lit room adorned with ornate decor, Murtasim sat behind a grand mahogany desk, the weight of a difficult decision evident in his contemplative expression. The room was silent, save for the soft ticking of a clock on the wall, marking the seconds as they passed.
Farid sat in front of him, his imposing figure filling the space as he approached Murtasim with a discerning gaze. The two men shared a history, a bond forged in the fires of loyalty and trust, yet now, the tension between them was palpable.
Murtasim broke the silence, his voice low and laden with uncertainty. "Farid, should I let Meerab go?"
Farid's brows furrowed, a flash of disbelief crossing his features. He took a moment, choosing his words with care before responding. "Let her go? Murtasim, have you lost your mind?"
Murtasim met Farid's intense gaze, his eyes reflecting a tumult of emotions. "I'm considering our options, Farid. Her presence has become a distraction, and I can't afford any lapses in focus, I don't know what is the matter with her-but-but I am unable to figure all of it out, plus its so many days since we last worked."
Farid shook his head, clearly frustrated. "Distraction? Meerab has been nothing but dedicated and committed to her work. She's brought a fresh perspective, a vitality that's been lacking. And you're considering letting her go?"
Murtasim leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair as he exhaled deeply. "It's not that simple. Our arrangement, the boundaries we've set-it's all becoming blurred."
Farid crossed his arms, his posture rigid. "And whose fault is that? You brought her into this world, Murtasim. You knew the risks."
"Mera woh matlab nahi hai Farid- I mean I don't know why am I affected by her behavior- I want to help her, I want to make her feel comfortable, but I guess she's over burdened by all the work"
"Murtasim? You need to talk openly to me, kehna kya chahrhe ho tum"
Murtasim's jaw clenched, the weight of Farid's words hitting home. "I never anticipated this... connection. It's complicating matters."
"Connection?" Farid grinned
"I don't know! Everything is complicated, and I feel we can't work anymore. There is definitely something that is unknown, " he uttered
Farid took a step closer, his voice firm yet laced with concern. "Life is complicated, my friend. But pushing away someone who's genuine or who's made a positive impact-that's a choice you'll regret. I know it's hard for you based on past events, but you can't push everyone away. I don't know what's exactly in your heart, but if you feel that the doors are opening for her, let them! She's a worthy person."
Murtasim looked away, the gravity of Farid's admonition settling over him. The decision weighed heavily on his shoulders, the path forward uncertain.
After a moment, Farid spoke, his tone softer, infused with understanding. "Think carefully, Murtasim. Sometimes, the right choice isn't the easiest one."
With that, Farid turned and exited the room, leaving Murtasim alone with his thoughts, the daunting decision before him casting a shadow over the days ahead.

The soft glow of the living room lamp cast a gentle luminescence, creating an ambience of serenity. Meerab lay peacefully on the plush sofa, her chest rising and falling rhythmically with each breath. The gentle hum of the night outside was interrupted only by the distant chirping of crickets. Murtasim was late tonight again. As he entered the mansion, passing by the living room, he paused as his eyes landed on her. The soft light accentuated her delicate features, casting a gentle shadow on her serene face. Her lips, slightly parted, seemed to beckon him closer, and the gentle rise and fall of her chest mesmerized him.
