The storm outside mirrored the turmoil within Murtasim. Rain lashed against the windows, the relentless drumbeat matching the fury boiling inside him. Thunder rumbled, shaking the mansion's very foundation, while flashes of lightning illuminated the darkened room in stark, white light. Murtasim's heart pounded in rhythm with the storm, each beat echoing the rage and betrayal he felt.

Murtasim’s POV

“Why would you do this to me? Meerab”

I stood by the window, my hands clenched into fists as if holding onto a thread, staring unseeingly into the tempest. The rain lashed against the glass, its relentless drumbeat mirroring the chaos within me. Thunder rumbled, shaking the mansion's foundation, while flashes of lightning illuminated the darkened room in stark, white light. My heart pounded in rhythm with the storm, each beat echoing the fury and betrayal I felt.

“Ye sab kuch jhoot nahi hai” She had said this mere minutes ago but I could still hear it echoing in the entire room, maybe it was my brain

Amidst the chaos, I spotted movement from the corner of my eye. Meerab, drenched in emotional turmoil, stood there, a ghostly figure amidst the destruction.

I wanted to blink, but my eyes refused to.

I wanted this to be a dream, a cruel nightmare from which I could awaken.

The gun.

There had been the gun pointed at her in the footage. That image was seared into my mind, Why was it there then?

"Meerab, you had a gun pointed at you," I finally spoke, rising from my seat, my voice trembling with the weight of my emotions. I moved toward her, my hands reaching out to hold her arms. If someone saw me, they would see the glimmer of hope in my eyes at this moment. I tried my best to get an answer from her, my restless being needed like air.

She gulped, her eyes refusing to meet mine. The silence stretched, the tension between us palpable. After a while, she stepped back from my arms, her movements hesitant and filled with sorrow.

Tell him it was a deal- Meerab’s mind echoed.

It felt she wanted to give in into his arms but couldn’t. It would weaken her, she couldn’t be selfish

"T-There was a slight argument in the deal," she said, her tone cold, her tears never stopping.

Deal

A deal? Against me?

Her words hit me like a sledgehammer, knocking the wind out of me. I took a step back, my mind racing. "Deal? Meerab, do you hear yourself?" I could feel my anger boiling over, but I tried to keep it in check, not wanting to scare her.

She nodded, her eyes still avoiding mine. "It was just a deal, Murtasim. Nothing more."

"Nothing more?" I repeated, my voice rising despite my efforts. "you say it was nothing more?"

She flinched at my tone, her tears flowing freely now. "I thought I could handle it," she whispered. "I thought I could manage."

"You thought you could manage?" I echoed, my voice breaking. The storm outside seemed to grow louder, as if echoing the storm inside me.
