Saanchi stood in the living room, a triumphant smile gracing her face. Finally, she felt a sense of freedom and pride, as if the weight of the world has lifted from her shoulders.
The morning sun bathed the room in a soft glow and she wanted to celebrate, so she decided to turn on some music. Saanchi approached the radio. Her fingers dancing over the buttons until the familiar notes of Tum Se Hi began to fill the room.
As the tune filled in the gloomy and messed up house, Saanchi couldn't resist to dance along her favourite song. The soothing rhythm wrapped around her like a warm embrace.
She swayed to the gentle beats, pretending to slow dancing with someone.
Suddenly, something shifted within her. The imaginary dance partner in her mind transformed into Abhay and their moves synced. Saanchi, caught off guard by this vivid daydream, stopped dancing immediately.
" Why did I just imagine dancing with Abhay? What am I thinking? "
Saanchi stood there, feeling a strange surge of warmth lingering in the air. Suppressing a smile, she paced around the room while the romantic melody echoed throughout the room.
The morning went by. The sun was also covered by dark grey clouds which meant it would rain soon.
Saanchi stared outside the window, unsure of what she has to do next.
Right then, the door bell rang.
Convinced that it was Abhay, she ran and opened the door, only to see a random Uber Eats delivery guy.
" I didn't order anything? ", she stated.
" Hey! You are Saanchi Banerjee right? ", the guy asked with a wide smile. She was a little terrified about a random man knowing her name but she responded with a yes.
The guy handed her a big food packet.
" Abhay asked me to deliver these to your house at exactly 2pm. He said your brother is usually at his office so you will be all alone at home. This is for you in case you get hungry. ", he informed and Saanchi smiled.
" How thoughtful... "
The guy chuckled, " Well yeah. Ever since he met you a month ago, he has been doing deliveries around your house in hopes of seeing you again. He even worked extra shifts recently so that he could spend time with you. I'm so glad you two started dating... "
Suprised, she questioned, " He told you that we are dating? "
He grinned, " Not directly, but he blushes whenever your name comes up so it's pretty obvious...! "
The delivery guy is about to leave when Saanchi calls him back.
" Oh, just a minute. Usually he's the one who comes and delivers food at this house. Where is he now? "" He's at his college. "
" Can you do me a little favour? Call Abhay and tell him come over when he's free... ", she said.
" Why don't you call him? ", the guy retorted back and she fell silent. The delivery guy wouldn't believe her if she said she doesn't have a phone.
As Saanchi tried to think of excuses, the delivery guy started making assumptions.
" Oh! I see. You won't call him because you're playing hard to get, huh? ", he smirked and she decided to play along. Saanchi gave him a nod.
" Ahaha, you got me! ", she fake laughed.
" I understand. I'll call him once he's done with college. Enjoy your meal! ", he reassured her before leaving.

When Abhay came out of his class, it was raining heavily. He received a message from one of his fellow coworkers. He confirmed him that he sent over the meals to Saanchi and also mentioned that she wanted him to come over soon.
A little worried, he decided to hurry to her house instead of going back home.
Abhay arrived at her door and knocked. Surprisingly, the door was open, so he walked in. He found everything neat and quiet, a bit too quiet, which made him worried.
" Is Saanchi okay? Did Anurag try to drug her? Or maybe she fell sick? ", Abhay's mind raced as he called out for her. He checked all the rooms but he couldn't find Saanchi anywhere. At last, he found the terrace door wide open.
Abhay ran upstairs and much to his relief, she was standing there. Getting drenched in the drizzling rain. He couldn't help but look at her smile, her wet hair sticking to his skin and the droplets bouncing off of her.
Saanchi noticed and smiled at him.
Abhay returned to his sensed and quickly ran to her, " Why are you getting wet in the rain? Let's go inside, you're still recovering! "
Saanchi laughed, " Sometimes you just need to feel the rain Abhay... "
He gently removed pieces of hair stuck on her face and she looked down.
" Ah, this is the first time I'm seeing you without your uniform. ", Saanchi commented and he laughed.
" Do I look good? Or- "
" You look good in everything. ", she answered, which made Abhay's heart skip a beat. He parted his lips to reply but couldn't come up with one.
" Baras rahi thi barish bahar, aur wóh bheeg raha tha mujh mein... ", Abhay muttered under his breath before closing off the distance between them.
Unable to hold himself back anymore, he cupped her face and pressed his lips against hers. Her eyes widened in shock and she pushed him away.
Abhay realized he just crossed a line he promised he would never cross and began to panic, stumbling over his words in a flurry of apologies.
" I- I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry. I don't know what I— "
As the initial shock wore off, Saanchi couldn't help but smile. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer, cutting his jumbled up apologies short with another kiss.
