FOURTEEN: King Damien Returns

Kawaii-Chan's POV:

"You keep that sketchbook glued to your side" I looked up to see Zane standing in the doorway of the dining room, I glanced down remembering I had my sketchbook with me like normal.

"Good morning Zane" I said completely ignoring the comment about the sketchbook, he walked into the dining room and sat down in the seat next to me.

It had been 2 days since Zane returned and he's been staying in the castle since then, he doesn't always show up around me however and I've noticed he spends a lot of time in the library.

It has also been 2 days since we realized the only way to stop King Damien from continuing with the bounty was pretending that Zane and I were engaged.

We sent word out to King Damien that I am requesting him to come to Tu'la and we heard back that he would be there as soon as possible, I had given the illusion that I was rethinking what happened between us.

He should be arriving today shortly and I knew he'd stick around for a few days just to make sure that it was infact true that Zane and I were truly together and in love.

"What are you drawing this time?" I looked up, Zane's voice pulling me from my thoughts and I seen him taking a bite of an eggbite that the maid must've brought out for him.

"Nothing important" I responded, he nodded his head and I looked back down to the half finished drawing in the sketchbook, closing it so he couldn't see it I set my pencil down and picked up my cup of coffee.

"Kia wasn't joking. There is a man near you" I looked up and my eyes widened when I seen Mehkin standing there with a smile on his face, his hair longer than before and had a bit of a beard growing.

"Mehkin!" I shouted jumping up and making sure to set the coffee down, I ran towards him with a laugh of happiness bubbling from me as I engulfed my little brother in a tight bear hug.

He laughed as he spun me around a few times and we completely forgot that Zane was there watching the entire thing happening, but I quickly remembered Mehkin's comment.

"What do you mean there is a man near me? Do you honestly think I run off every guy around me" I said, Mehkin smiled. 

"Maybe a little bit" I scoffed and smacked him upside the head, he started laughing and rubbed the back of his head as he took a step away from me and I took in his appearance.

"You need a haircut baby brother" I commented and turned around remembering in that moment Zane was still here, Mehkin looked over now paying attention to Zane.

"Hello. I'm Prince Mehkin. You must be Zane, my baby sister has told me a lot about you" I looked at him confused wondering what Kia must've told him.

"I am. It's nice to meet you Prince Mehkin" Zane said politely with a bow, he never bowed to me when we first met and just annoys me on a daily basis now.

"So Kia is not joking. You are pretending to be engaged to save someone. Tell me why is my sister so willing to help you by the look of annoyance on her face she doesn't like you very much" I rolled my eyes and walked back over sitting down in my spot once again.

"I helped her escape the guards a year ago. She's in debt to me" Zane responded, I picked up my coffee and took another sip of it while Mehkin seen all the food and rushed forward.

"You're the thief who helped her?" Mehkin asked, Zane nodded his head as Mehkin shoved some eggbites into his mouth with a smile on his face and sat down.

"I am" Neither Zane or I could understand what he was saying afterwards, I said nothing else and took a bite of a piece of bacon just watching Mehkin inhale the food.
