Third PERSON POV :)
The first light of dawn filtered through the ornate curtains, casting a gentle glow over the royal chamber. Vedanti stirred in her sleep, a soft smile playing on her lips as she felt Abhirath's tender touch on her belly. She slowly opened her eyes to find him leaning over her, his lips brushing softly against her stomach as he murmured sweet words.
"Abhirath, what are you doing?" she asked in a sleepy voice, her eyes half-closed with contentment. "The baby can't hear you yet; it will take time."
Abhirath looked up, his eyes filled with love and devotion. "I know, my rabbit," he said softly. "But I want our baby to feel my presence. As she is inside you, the baby can feel you, but not me. This is my way of making sure she knows I am here too."
Vedanti sat up slightly, propping herself on her elbows. "She? I want a boy who is just like me – strong, confident, beautiful, and understanding."
Abhirath chuckled, shaking his head. "No, my rabbit, I want a daughter who is like me – smart, loving only towards the family, and loves his rabbit the most." He leaned in and kissed her cheek, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Vedanti playfully pushed him away. "Not happening, Abhirath," she said, her voice challenging but light-hearted.
Abhirath's expression softened as he cupped her face in his hands. "One thing is sure, my rabbit," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "The baby will always admire you, no matter if it's a boy or a girl."
Vedanti's heart swelled with love, and she leaned in to kiss him gently. "You're amazing, Abhirath. Now, let's get ready for the court."
After the court session, Vedanti and Abhirath made their way to the royal lunch chamber, where only the two of them were present. Abhirath, ever the gentleman, pulled out a chair for Vedanti, helping her sit down. As she settled, he turned to the palace helpers.
"Where are the others?" Abhirath asked, curiosity lacing his tone.
The head helper bowed deeply and replied, "They are fasting today, Your Highness."
Vedanti looked puzzled. "Why? What's special about today?" she asked.
"Queen Vedanti," the helper explained, "today is the day when married women fast for the entire day, without eating or drinking water, for their husband's long life."
"Oh," Vedanti said, a flicker of realization crossing her face. "How could I forget?"
Abhirath sat down next to her, his eyes filled with concern and tenderness. "Even if you had remembered, you couldn't keep it, my rabbit. Now eat," he said, gently holding a spoonful of food to her lips.
Vedanti looked at him, amazed. "What's the occasion today that Your Highness is feeding me?" she asked, her eyes filled with questions.
"Nothing much," Abhirath replied with a playful smile, "just making up for a week's loss, Your Highness." He coaxed her to eat, his eyes never leaving hers.
In the cozy confines of Abhirath's grandparents' room, a warm and familiar scene unfolds. The room, filled with cherished mementos and the gentle glow of afternoon sunlight filtering through the ornate windows, feels like a sanctuary of love and history.
Abhirath's grandfather, a man of wisdom and gentle humour, looked at his wife with a mixture of concern and affection. "Are you seriously fasting for me?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief. "How much longer do you want me to live, my life?" (he calls his wife as "life")
His wife, a woman of unwavering determination and grace, glared at him playfully. "No arguments," she declared firmly. "I am not breaking the fast."
He sighed theatrically but couldn't hide the smile tugging at his lips. "Okay then," he said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her close. "But be prepared to live with me for a long, long time. And don't complain when Abhirath's kids start calling you 'old lady.'"
She giggled, a sound that still held the sweetness of their youth. "No, I won't, my old man," she replied, leaning her head on his shoulder. Her eyes sparkled with the same love that had bound them together through the years.
The midday sun cast a warm glow through the ornate windows of Abhirath's parents' room, bathing the space in soft light. Abhirath's father sat at his desk, papers spread out before him, but his focus seemed elsewhere. He rubbed his stomach absently, a slight frown creasing his brow.
Abhirath's mother entered the room with a graceful ease, her eyes immediately locking onto her husband. "Vishwanath," she called softly, approaching him with a gentle smile. "It's time for lunch. Come and eat something."
He shook his head, offering a weak smile in return. "I don't think I can, love. My stomach is upset. I wouldn't eat anything today."
She walked over to his chair and wrapped her arms around him from behind, her chin resting on his shoulder. "Oh, really?" she teased, a playful glint in her eyes. "Or is it that you have also kept a fast for me, Mr. Vishwanath?"
He chuckled, shaking his head slightly but not denying her accusation. "Nonsense," he replied, though his tone lacked conviction. "I just don't feel like eating."
She turned his chair around to face her, looking into his eyes with a mixture of love and mischief. "You can't fool me," she said, her voice soft but insistent. "I know you too well. You're fasting, aren't you? Just like me."
He sighed, giving in to her knowing gaze. "Alright, you caught me," he admitted. "Yes, I've kept a fast for you. But only because I want to, not because I had to."
She smiled, her heart swelling with affection,"You're impossible," she said, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "But also incredibly sweet."
He took her hands in his, squeezing them gently. "I just want to be with you, in everything," he said quietly. "Even in this."
Her eyes softened, and she kissed him again, this time on the lips. "I love you, Vishwanath," she whispered.
"I love you too," he replied, pulling her into his lap. "Now, let's just sit together and enjoy each other's company, even if we aren't eating."
