A little Backstory you might want to know is that when I was 14 I ran from my home, my parents were addicts, honestly nothing unusual in my area but it got to the point where abuse was involved. I used to go to school, nothing interesting. In school I had a best friend her name was Ivy, she had a happy life from what I heard from her. Last time I saw her was back home in Brownsville. I miss her, I wasn't popular in school nor bullied, people just didn't care, she was my only friend. However my hause was some next level shit. All I can remember is my father throwing an empty bottle at me one night when he was drunk, my mother never got physical on me but she definitely said some messed-up stuff. I wanted to leave that hause for a long time, I was naturally scared, I had no money, no-one, but one night I left . After that I never came back.

I woke up, got ready went to work.
I work at a Coffee shop that is lame as fuck but it's not like a sixteen year old could be something more. Look it pays and that's what I need. Also the manager let's me sing for some money there after my shift, its not much but every dollar counts for me.

I get to work and see Michael. Oh thank god! I work with Michael on Tuesdays.
Michael is literally the reason I'm still going, he helped me so much when I first came here. He's also the reason I can even work in here, since the manager thought that sixteen is too young.

"Hi, hey" I smile at him coming through the door. "Ela" is all he says smiling softly at me. "Yeah I know im late I just-" is all I managed to get out. "It's fine but you are lucky it's me" says Michael. "God if it was Sharon here she would be probably telling on you already" he continues. "Mhm" I say as I put on my apron. "God have you eaten in the past three weeks" Michael whispers loudly. I just give him a look. " Ela you know I'm not trying to be mean, you just look really really fucking skinny" " and not in a good way" he looks me right into my eyes. "Well for your information I did eat" I say quietly. "It's just my l-" "Hello" a boy in his early twenties says cutting me off. "Oh sorry Hi" "I say looking at him. "What can I get you" I say grabbing my notepad.
"Black coffee and Latte" "Alright got it"
"I will be right back" I say walking away giving the piece of paper to Michael.
He looks at it. " names?" "Huh ?"
"The names Ella" "oh right wait" I turn around waking back to the boy "Hey I'm sorry I forgot to ask the names for the cup" " oh don't worry it's ok you don't have to put any" "Alright" I say smiling.
I go back to Michael "he said not to put names" "fine" Michael says giving the Coffees to me . I walk to the guy handing the order to him. "One black Coffee and one Latte , that will be eight dollars"
The boy hands me a twenty. I start to get the change. "That's alright keep it" he says. "Thank you". He just nodded his head. "Goodbye" " Yeah bye, Have a nice day"

My day goes as usual a 9 hour shift. After that I go home. I get to my apartment, its small but it's just me. I set my bag on my counter and go straight to my couch. "Ding" I groan. Its my phone. I take it out looking at my messages.

Stella
7:30
Hey Ela!
We are preforming today at 8 so don't forget !!

"Fuck" I definitely did forget. I get up going straight to my bedroom.
I take off my clothes and look inside of my wardrobe. I don't think much of it and take some jeans and a shirt. I ran out of my room taking my phone throwing it in my bag and putting on my shoes.

7:45
"You're late!" Says Stella looking at me as I'm walking through the door."Yeah but at least I'm here ?" I say trying to not make her mad. "Mhmh that you are" she says turning around.

I get on the small pub stage Sam handing me a microphone. They get everything ready. Once they are all set up they look at me nodding. Music starts playing.

After the performance. We walk off the stage. "Ela how are you a baby and sing like that" says Stella. "Not a baby" "Yeah you are" she says. "mkay" I say back.

"Who wants a drink?" Asks Sam
"Not you obviously" he says looking at me. I smile sarcastically. Sam and Stella are in this little band or something, I'm not apart of it, they just needed a singer and I needed the money so I sing with them. They are like my older brother and sister.

The night goes on and I felt someone staring at me the whole night.
