A next day rant to Susannah was necessary, "Well it wasn't awful, I mean, it's an honour to get shit face drunk with his mother on ten thousand pound a bottle champagne, oh and the wine but I think that was twelve grand... I don't know."
"My oh my." Susannah gasped but she wasn't entirely shocked, Pascale could put away a few bottles and I'm an easy influence.
"I think they liked me, I did try but it was hard to get past my scruffy koala pyjamas for the brothers." I admitted to her as she helped me to put the ribbon in my hair, today was the day of this huge Monaco charity match.
An annual association football friendly match ran by some monegasque gentleman to raise money for various charitable causes and Charles has played for the last two years to raise money for the illness his father passed from.
"I thought it was charming, it showed you were open enough to look like that around him." Susannah tried but it just sounded condescending which made me chuckle
"I'm starting to think you like him you know." She told me quietly, so quietly I wondered if she even said it or I imagined it.
I snorted "Yeah right."
"Well you haven't come back to your room and the security threats have died down, and I see the way you look at him." She uttered as she finished my hair.
"Oh thank you so much, it's so cute." I told her brushing off what she said as I took one last bite of my bagel before hurrying myself down the stairs to be done before Charles.
He complains a lot that I take a long time doing things so getting ready quicker than him would be an achievement and a half, but as per, there he was dressed and ready to go, "You can't rush the hair, it's a process okay?" Was all I said to him as I pulled on trainers but he didn't argue with me today.
I always thought that if you have that much money you just get someone to drive for you, growing up I always had a driver taking me places but Charles was always the driver.
And he took a lot of pride in his car garage, "Can I pick today?" I asked him as we wandered to the car garage which costs more than anyone would like to admit.
He looked to me and then back at the cars, "Yeah, why not?" He shrugged as I wandered around, I know a car or two and I wasn't shocked that a majority of his were Ferraris.
"I like the Ferrari 488 Pista... I think that one." Okay so maybe that was the only car I properly know the name of and it's because Marta told me it was his favourite and worth more than a million because it's custom made for him.
He smiled widely at me, "How'd you know that one is my favourite?"
"Great minds think alike." I quipped but he saw right through me, nonetheless we drove in it and it was a nice damn car.
When we arrived at the stadium only then did it click in my mind how public this event was, I'm talking thousands of people all gathered watching, no wonder Charles had ten security guards out in the stands with me, Joe included.
"I have to go down to the training rooms, the stand is over on the left and Kika and Marta are already in there" he promised "Joe will take you."
"Okay," I nodded "Good luck okay?"
"Merci Mon Cheri." He smiled widely before heading to the training rooms, to be fair the stand I was staying in wasn't far from the training rooms and I was excited.
As soon as I reached the stand the girls squealed so loudly my eardrums were shy of bursting, "Shhh the noise! Chiara!" I shushed them as I looked to the little baby with the ear defenders on.
If I almost burst an ear drum look at her!
"Ev Ev." Chiara did her grabby hands at me, I hadn't seen her in person since the country club but Marta had phoned me here and there when the security breech was going on.
"Shut up." I mouthed, she knew my name.
"Yep!" Marta smiled as I held her in my arms, this week I also had the pleasure of meeting Kika who is literally the most fun woman on planet earth.
We'd talked every day since over text and game night is arranged, "Are you excited Chiara?" Kika asked her as I bounced her up and down, the ear defenders were so big on her little head.
As soon as the game started I was getting into it, football, soccer, whatever you want to call it I was having a great time. Charles in a football kit was a rare sighting and bless him, it's not his strength.
He was telling me the whole car ride there that he was not good at it and then proceeded to let me google memes of him flipping over himself last year, I was laughing so hard I thought I was gonna pee.
He pulled over to make sure I didn't ruin his pista spider, only when crowds began to form around us we continued the drive.
It was all going swimmingly until Charles fell and didn't get back up for thirty seconds which doesn't sound like a long time but I swear it goes in slow motion when you see it, I wished so badly I had binoculars to see what was going on but when he was limping off the pitch with a medic I knew it was probably a bad sign.
"Do you think I should go and see..?" I asked the girls who quickly nodded and only then I passed Chiara back, although I did debate stealing her and taking her home with me.
I summoned the security and we barged our way through the crowds down to the medical room, "You can't be in here." Some random paramedic told me as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Eva?," Charles called out "Eva?"
"That's her husband, she's family." Joe told the paramedic and then the realisation hit him that I was Mrs Leclerc and I was let in, Charles was sat on a bench with a bandage on his knee.
"Are you okay?," I rushed out "Oh my god."
"I'm fine," he laughed at me "Why are you so worried about me?"
"I'm not the girls told me to come down here." I argued back rather quick, too quickly.
"Uh huh sure."
"Look we're friends I can be concerned." I shrugged to him which was agreed with by the security men.
"Is that what we are Eva?"
"Hey mister, you said we weren't gonna fall in love." I pointed out the adrenaline in me dying down because he was actually okay and nothings broken.
"I don't know, maybe something inside me is changing." And that went quite nicely with his classic Charles Leclerc wink as he got up and walked out the medical room to the sidelines.
