Waking up without Charles next to me wasn't at all surprising, the fact I went into his room for comfort however, well who the hell do I think I am?

Moving the heavily weighted duvet off of me id quickly realised it was the warmest it'd been since I arrived at Charles' and I wasn't planning on sitting down and doing nothing so slipping on the bikini I had thoughtlessly crammed into my bag all those days ago I decided to explore the pool.

It was beautiful, different flowers and vines hung from the safety fence and I made myself at home on one of the long chairs. I'd hate to admit that this place was slowly becoming my home  I was starting to feel more homesick by the day and despite how large the house was, I felt constricted, confined. I had definitely been thinking up ways that I could escape the large gates, knowing that if I asked to go home he'd  say no.

Despite our friendship, home isn't here.

I was lying in the sun, a book in hand when I heard footsteps. I ignored them until they stopped, a shadow covering the sun and groaned because god, I was actually enjoying just being alone in the sun, "Susannah?" I peeped

"Not quite, try again." Noticing it was Charles I placed my book down, "What are you doing out here? Haven't you got like meetings? It's a Monday?"

Why was a part of me pleased he'd found me in this mansion of a home, "Saw you from the window and had to come and say hi." he didn't move so I sat up.

"What's the real reason?" I asked as he sat on the sun lounger beside mine refusing to lean back though, I twisted on my side to see him better. The sun making me squint.

He then awkwardly started, "Wanted to see if you were okay?... after last night?"

I nodded to him awkwardly, "Oh yeah, just felt a bit sick. Major hypochondriac here."

"Look if it was Alexandra shouting at you yesterday I'm sorry- she's I don't know. A character." He admitted to me, his green eyes even greener in the sunlight.

"Nope I'm all good." I nodded to him, I felt rude telling him that I just miss my home because he knows that. He gets it. And me crying isn't going to change anything, "That's the reason you came to see me?"

"Well that and my security guys are staring at you in the bikini." He admitted blushing a tiny bit as he spoke.

I rolled my eyes "With the hours they work I doubt they have women at home, can't say I blame them."

"What you think I shouldn't have twenty four hour security?" He asked considering I was the one asking him about my safety in this building.

"I didn't say that." I shrugged shoving my hair up and climbing in the pool slowly, dipping a toe in first to feel the icy cold water, "Just maybe consider giving them an extra week at Christmas or a week off for their birthdays and stuff."

"Maybe." He replied watching as I climbed into the cold water, my teeth chattering as I acclimatised myself, moving my arms rapidly to heat up.

When he didn't say anything else at all I turned to him, "Did you come here to observe me or do you have something to say? Because I like my alone time and this is borderline creep behaviour."

"You know I'm your husband right?" He laughed

"Mhm and you can still be a creep, you know that right?" I mocked his tone

He shook his head, "What I came here to say was I'm sorry I left early this morning, your cousin Marcus came for a meeting with me about the business and he wants to talk to you to confirm it."

"Huh?"

He continued, "Well not only are we like married partners we are technically business partners and he said he wanted to talk to you about his proposal before agreeing with me as it's not just mine... so if you want to talk to him to discuss he's coming back tomorrow."

"Marcus?" I quizzed

"Yeah." Charles confirmed.

"Charles, I don't have a cousin Marcus."

"This isn't the time for jokes Eva, he's up for a good deal. I mean it was inticing and even if you don't know what he's on about it's family right?" He decided

"Charles I'm dead serious I don't have a cousin Marcus," I shook my head "I'm not joking, I have six cousins and they are all female."

Charles raised a brow, "He was tall maybe six three, six four, brown dark hair similar eye colour to you.. are you sure?"

"Positive, I don't know him."

He shrugged, "He might be a cousin you've never met? Did your dad have any siblings he didn't know?"

I shook my head, "Believe me Charles, there's no Marcus in my family. I don't know who you're on about or what you are on about."

He shook his head, "He knew a lot about you Eva, I mean he showed up and said he was your cousin we quizzed him thoroughly... how would he know you were here if he wasn't your cousin? Or what your middle name is? Shit like that. It's not on the internet we've checked."

"Wait how do you know my middle name if it isn't on the internet? I haven't told you that.." I crossed my arms over my chest looking at him.

"On the marriage contract Mon Cheri." He replied calmly, he was reluctant to share that he had kept tabs on her with his mother for a while.

"Well I don't know a Marcus and this is freaking me out," I shook my head "And I promise he's not a family member I don't know."

Charles nodded and quickly pulled his phone out and began talking with security which made my heartbeat quick and shallow like the pulse of a nervous rabbit. Who is this Marcus guy? What does he want?

I could tell Charles was concerned in the way he gripped the phone, his knuckles white, he didn't openly show it but I could feel it, "Your staying in my room again tonight.." he told me quickly, and it wasn't a choice but a demand.

And not one I argued with.
