Kika complained so much that I took game night into my own hands and the whole friend group came around to the house - even though Charles had meetings all day I was still happy to have them here. If it means I'm getting closer with them and doing Kika a favour then I'm happy.
My phone buzzed from the coffee table and I ignored it focusing on the mass game of monopoly sat in front of me, "Aren't you going to check that?" Pierre asks
I shake my head and smirk, "It's your turn Gasly. Looks to me like you have a bit of catching up to do."
"It's on Leclerc."
Leclerc. A small smile made its way on my face as I watched Pierre roll the dice, he and Kika were playing as a team.
The game continued, me in the lead and Riccardo and Marta not far behind. Of course, there was the odd bit of laughter and one of us cheating in one way or another but I felt happy. My ring made my eyes widen and butterflies arise in my stomach each time I saw it in the corner of my eye and I felt easily overcome with joy.
I played monopoly constantly with my nanny Marie growing up, a while later we were all packing up, trying to separate the notes and the cards into the various bags.
It must've been late as monopoly takes forever to play and they came over around seven, all of our belly's were rumbling well other than chiara.
"Can someone check the time whilst I take this up to the game room?" I asked as I grabbed the box together.
Having left their phones in the kitchen, Pierre outstretched his arm for mine that still sat on the coffee table, having gone off once or twice during the game. He pressed the home button, seeing that it was 10:45 but that wasn't what caught his eyes, it was the messages on the screen, simple threats.
He knew he shouldn't have invaded Eva's privacy by unlocking her phone, but he did it anyway and after seeing what was on the screen he was thankful that he had, eyes blown wide by what was on the screen.
"Eva," he swallowed thickly "What is this?"
Everyone's heads snapped in his direction, he turned the phone around, the screen glowing and a few unfamiliar messages popped up on the screen and my mouth went dry.
"Wha- what the hell.." I looked at the phone, and the text messages coming up on the screen from unknown numbers.
He continued to scroll, I was horrified, "These are from weeks and weeks ago.... This ones from today... Eva you need to show Charles..."
I didn't speak, didn't even make a move.
Pierre knocked on the door a few times, Charles grumbled a small 'Come in' and Pierre opened the door, one of Charles' clients was seated on the opposite side of the desk looking as if he was about to pee himself and if it weren't for the situation at hand Pierre would've smirked at the look of pure terror.
The familiar room now held a different smell than it had yesterday morning. It stunk of cigars and cologne, Charles' cologne. He flicked me a smile, a genuine one and I could only look down once again, the second I did his face fell.
"What is it, mate? I'm in the middle of something here. If shes cheated at monopoly again then just accept it, it happens." He sounded aggravated already, even slightly stressed and I couldn't help but feel guilty for what was about to happen.
Pierre spoke clearly, loudly. "You might want to see this." He held the phone out and Charles took it. "It's important"
Charles grabbed the phone immediately recognising it as my own.
"Jacob, leave" Charles instructed and the man-, Jacob, did exactly that. Practically jumping out of his seat and leaving the room, not even daring to lay an eye on you on his way out.
