Ch 22: Looking Back

Back on the main ship Luis and Jade's patience was wearing thin when people from different fields were nonstop working to get any updates on the ware bouts of the missing teens. 

"Captain it's been 4 hours already. How the hell don't we know where these kids are?"

"Luis I'm stuck between a damaged system and missing people. We are doing the best we can. We are finally at the docks so why don't you and the Misses go out and get some stuff. It will help clear the nerves while we try to get operational again."

Luis scoffed at the Captain but as he was going to say anything else he was already choked up on his words and simply walked away. As he was leaving the captain stopped him and handed him a radio. "We'll call you when we're ready." He nodded and took the radio then headed downstairs to get Jade. 

Walking down the corridor you can see the engineers and welders working together; quickly they patch up any possible opening or cracks. With lively sparks flickering in the air Jade was now hiding in her room after enduring all the panic. 

Seeing this Luis gently knocked on the door frame before coming inside the room. "Hey there. You okay?"

Jade quickly dried her eyes and got up from her fetal position. "Oh Luis! So glad you're here."

"Damn Jade, I never meant to hurt you. I only yelled to get you out of danger."

"No no Luis. It's not that. I'm scared for these kids and no answer from these experts cannot be good."

"It's okay these people are fixing this damn ship. Once that's done we're going back out there."

Jade looked at Luis in some comfort and then hugged him, "Oh Luis! I am so glad you are persistent."

He chuckled, "I wouldn't have a job if I wasn't. Hey [he faced her] let's get some supplies so we can be help these kids."

"Won't these people leave us behind if we leave?"

"I got this." [He showed her the radio]

Jade seeing this finally agreed to step outside to buy some supplies. As they left the main ship to gather their supplies, Captain Hunt catches these two outside as he jogged to catch up to Luis. 

"Luis! I've gathered some news that the FBI already gotten wind that there are active ships looking to resolve the 'cover up' for Bwen."

"Damn! So do these people plan to run for the hills or are we teaming up?"

"The general is planning to team up with the feds so we don't look suspicious or at least at fault of this mess. This is your last chance Luis to disappear and no longer get involved, there's already some guys jumping ship."

Luis glances behind Captain Hunt's shoulder and sees some of the young men running from the main ship. Then he sees Jade with a worried look printed on her face. 

"Not a chance man. I know two of these missing kids and they are family to me."

"Thanks Luis. But you know I had to warn you. That's the least I could do."

"I get it man. But I can't just walk away. Anyways I'll see you back there."

"Mr. Hunt why don't you join us. We were going to eat in one of these restaurants, you are always welcomed.  

"My apologizes Ms. Jade but I'm needed back there but thank you for the invitation."

Captain waves his goodbyes and rush back to the ship as a couple more people are rushing out of the main ship. 

In the main room the general is on the phone with Finch the federal agent that was investigating the whole thing. 

"Well sir, me and my crew were hired to safely neutralize the animal or at least stop it. To our misfortune we have made contact with the creature and got separated from some active crew. The creature has caused some damage to the vessel and yet we were able to contain the creature away from some parameters but we are limited on resources."
