We finally reached the door that lead to the lower level of the rig- from the west wing. It was heavily taped off with those crime scene tapes and there was a guard by the door. Savanna and her father who lead the group, signaled the guard to cut open the tape.
With a quick slice the tape was cut and the door was opened. The guard then remained in his post vigilant. Chuck then opened the electrical box and the lights were revived.
He turns to his crew and hollers, "Alright guys, let's begin the real tour!"
As everyone walks downstairs carefully with only the flickering lights showing the way, the atmosphere in that lower room felt like a horror movie. It was obvious that something bad has happened here. As Savanna then attempted to go downstairs her father stops her tracks.
"Daddy!?"
"Sweetheart, I don't want you downstairs. This will give you nightmares."
"Dad, I saw the security footage already. I know-"
"I didn't stutter Savanna! Looking on tape is different than in person. YOU'RE NOT GOING."
Savanna marches back up stairs.
"Guard! Before I close this door. Make sure no one gets inside including Savanna."
"YES SIR"
"Good" He sadly looks at Savanna and sees her watery eyes, as she stood there hopelessly.
BOOM, SLAM, CLICK; Chuck finally secured the door. When Chuck turns he see Stella watching the whole ordeal go down.
"Stella, if you have kids you'd understand. I've seen death before-I don't want to ruin her eyes."
"I understand Chuck."
The group finally reached the bottom level of the rig but it was too dark to explore. Chuck then pushes everyone past him and starts feeling the wall.
"It will only be a second guys!"
Chuck continues to feel the wall until he found the electrical box, he quickly opens the box and flick on all the switches. The entire room lit up revealing it's dark secret.
When the group observed the room it was in terrible condition, then towards the east side of the room there was an opening in the ground that revealed the ocean. Causing a cold draft.
Big equipment knocked over or destroyed, big generators burnt and wires all over the floor. But what really made the statement was the massive teeth and scratch marks on the walls, practically bending the metal. Everyone looked at the marks in horror.
One of the sailors got close to the opening where you can see the ocean and yelled out, "Hey guys look!"
One of the engine men was hanging on the metal sticks that poked out of the opening like a flag, motionless.
"He's dead?"
Chuck then glances down, "Yes son. None of the clean up crew were daring enough to get close to the water, they were all too scared. Everyone would rather let the body fall in the water on it's own...it's not too long from doing that."
The horrified look on everyone's faces spoke volumes.
Kilo then asked, "so why does this place have a basement."
"Well son, first off I wouldn't call this a basement but more of a lower deck; Too much open air to be considered that. However, the west wing would power the west side of this place which does explain why when you all first came here some parts of the rig was dark. Also this is were we make the money. We have the drills here. We are now only 60% functional, which is a major disadvantage."
