"My lady," the princess' lady-in-waiting, Caihong's, voice came from behind a white-haired girl in blue, her eyes covered by a white blindfold. "The emperor wants you at the war council." The princess held out an arm for Caihong to take, helping the princess to her feet.
"Caihong-jie, what did I say about calling me lady." the princess smiled softly, her hand placed on Caihong's shoulder as the young, dark-haired girl led her to the war council.
"My apologies, Dongmei-da jie." the princess nodded at that, her grip tightening on Caihong's shoulder as she was led upstairs. "Careful, Dongmei-da jie, the last step is coming up." Dongmei stepped firmly on the last step, relaxing her grip on Caihong as they entered the council room.
They were greeted with a chorus of 'Dongmei Gongzhu' and the rustle of cloth as the council members and generals hurried to bow. Dongmei bowed her head in return before Caihong seated her next to the emperor and his general. Caihong bowed and left the council room.
"General Rong, update us on the battle against Siwang." The emperor speaks, looking over his daughter to the general next to her. General Rong had a stern face, his long hair falling over his shoulder and his bangs framing his face.
"I've sent a select few fighters to ambush a group of Siwang up in the mountains. They are our best fighters, and I'm hoping this mission goes as planned. We're still having a hard time finding the majority group of Siwang." General Rong spoke in a low voice. For someone so young, Rong spoke like a man refined by age and experience. Rong leaned forward and moved a piece on the battle map. He nodded before sitting back in his chair.
Emperor Wang stayed silent for a while before speaking. "Thank you, General Rong. The time is coming when we will finally hunt down Siwang, and the greatest war that will ever happen will start." There was a shout from all the generals and commanders. The swish of cloth and jingle of armor filled the room as the war council made their way out of the room.
Before leaving, everyone bowed low to the emperor and said their goodbyes. General Rong hesitated for a while before leaving, his fire-red eyes stopping on the white-clad figure of Dongmei. Shaking his head, he left the council room, letting Caihong take Dongmei away.
"How was the council, Dongmei-da jie?' Caihong asked as she helped Dongmei sit at her desk. Dongmei shrugged, sighing as Caihong took her blindfold off.
"Tell me what I look like again, Caihong-jie." Dongmei touched her cheeks, tracing a finger around her eyes. "Please, Caihong-jie." Caihong sat down in front of Dongmei.
"You have beautiful white hair, marking you as a life-giver. Your eyes are soft peach blossom eyes, the sharp silver of death. Your skin is like the finest piece of white jade and you have soft pink lips." Caihong smiled at Dongmei, brushing her long white hair out.
"And what about you, Caihong-jie?" Caihong laughed softly.
"I have the red eyes of a life-giver, not as fiery as General Rong. My hair and dark brown and very long. I have cream-colored skin and very pale lips. Not as beautiful as you, Dongmei-da jie." Dongmei frowned at that comment.
"I think you are very beautiful, Caihong-jie." Dongmei put a hand on Caihong's wrist, "Even if I can't see you, I know you are very beautiful, maybe not physically, but you have a kind heart. Besides, I do believe that Commander Lee thinks you are beautiful. I've heard he's not easy to impress." Caihong blushed at that comment.
"You're very kind, Dongmei-da jie. Though many more think you are more wonderful." Caihong stopped brushing Dongmei's hair, putting the brush down, "You may have even caught the eye of General Rong himself." Dongmei didn't blush at that.
"Tell me about him."
"General Rong is said to be a magnificent fighter, taking down hundreds of fighters before going down himself. Even if he is a fighter, he loves poetry and art and is very kind to the people of this nation. He has the most bright Phoenix red eyes anyone has seen and jet-black hair, which he keeps in the usual hanfu style for men of his rank. He is also quite young, maybe two or three years your senior." Dongmei hummed thoughtfully.
"He sounds nice... I hope to properly meet him one day. Good-night, Caihong-jie."
