"Are we there yet?" Dongmei groaned, dragging her feet as they climbed up the mountain path. Both boys glared back at her.
"You know, Cheung, for a princess, she is relatively annoying. When I first met her, she was really quiet and stern." Cheung smiled.
"I've heard sayings of how disciplined the heir to the throne was. Never speaking out of anger or out of turn." Cheung added, both of the boys glancing back at Dongmei.
"What?" she looked between them to, "I'm only like that because I don't like attention. Right now, I want to get there, plus, you guys walk so fast." Dongmei sighed, "Also, my arm hurts from carrying my sword for so long." Both boys ignored her and sped up. "H-hey! Wait up!" Dongmei mumbled something under her breath before catching up with them.
A white, stone pailou gate looms overhead. The words 'Lan Clan of Baiyun' looked down at them from a plaque. Two Lan Clan cultivators stand at the gate, bowing to Cheung. "Young Master." They chorus, then turning to Rong and Dongmei, "Wang Gongzhu, General Chang, welcome to the Lan Clan of the Baiyun Mountains. We've been expecting you." The tallest cultivator bowed low. The second cultivator in light blue turned to Cheung.
"Young Master, Clan Leader Lan Changpu is requesting your immediate presence with the General and Princess." Cheung nodded, inclining his head to the two cultivators. Lan Cheung motioned for the other two to follow him. Dongmei and Rong glanced at each other before following behind Cheung.
"Since we will be staying here for some time, I'll have some new clothing made for you as the custom is to wear white or blue," Cheung explained as they walked up the path to the Lan Clan mansion. After a while, the Lan Clan mansion appeared at the end of the path and Dongmei gasped in wonder.
The Lan Clan mansion compared to others was so much more intricate. It reminded Dongmei of the clouds surrounding the Baiyun mountain, made of white stone and the bold dark roofing. The mansion seemed like it didn't take much space, despite how large the place was. In the Siheyuan of the mansion, young cultivators were practicing their sword art, a teacher calling out each form.
"Young Master Lan's back!" the young cultivators called out, bowing to Lan Cheung as he walked among them. The cultivators in turn bowed back to the general and princess as they too passed. Rong and Dongmei followed Cheug, trying to keep up with his hasty pace. They entered the banquet hall, the Lan Clan Master sitting at his table, reading a scroll.
"Master Lan." Cheung clasped his hands and bowed, Rong and Dongmei following suit.
"Ah, Wang Gongzhu and General Chang." Master Lan stood, bowing to Dongmei and Rong, "Welcome to the Lan Clan of Baiyun."
