Caihong embraced Dongmei, both of them bowing and exchanging some words. Dongmei placed a paper crane in Caihong's hand and Caihong placed a paper butterfly in Dongmei's hand. Dongmei closed her fist, sticking her third and pinky finger up and writing blue letters in the air. She flicked the characters onto the crane and did the same with the butterfly.

The two girls bowed again, "If fate allows it, I hope to see you again." Dongmei smiled softly at her friend. Caihong smiled in return, nodding her head.

"As do I, Dongmei Gongzhu. May the gods smile kindly upon you." They clasped hands, looking at each other one last time before Dongmei pulled away, walking to the palace gates without looking back. Caihong watched from the stairs of the palace as the young trio disappeared among all the shops and merchants.

"Fresh fruits! Picked just this morning! Peaches, pears, grapes, and much more!" A merchant shouted to the crowds. Walking among them at a relatively fast pace was the trio. A princess, general, and clan heir was not your daily group, and neither was the appearance of clothing they wore very common in the village. Silk and velvet worn in elaborate and heavy colors attracted the attention of the villagers.

Dongmei pulled her mask farther up her nose, keeping her eyes down. "Quicken your pace." Rong muttered under his breath, "We need to get out of the village's border before someone calls the Emperor." They hurried out of the village, passing through the border and into the forest right outside the kingdom village.

Slowing down their pace, Dongmei sighed and pulled her mask off. "Hopefully I will never have to do that again." Everyone else nodded. "So, where to?"

"Lan Clan, in the Baiyun Mountains." Cheung immediately said, "I know that you think it's best to avoid everyone, but my father would understand your want to go on this mission. At the Lan Clan, you two can increase your cultivation power and find out more about the spirit possessing." Rong nodded, glancing at Dongmei.

Closing her eyes, the princess thought for a while before nodding her head slowly, "I suppose that makes sense...Are you sure that your father will not notify the Emperor?" Cheung nodded, holding three fingers up.

"I promise." He bowed his head.

"Alright then, Baiyun Mountains are about a three-day walking distance from here, so we better start now." Rong started walking ahead of the group, Cheung and Dongmei following behind him.
