Xiuying kneeled next to Dongmei's bedside, taking a deep breath. rong put a comforting hand on her shoulder, "If you feel Dongmei slipping away, tell one of us. We are life-givers." Xiuying nodded, swallowing her spit and placing a hand over Dongmei's heart and another over her forehead. Exhaling deeply once more, Xiuyig closed her eyes and began.
Nothing seemed to happen for a while, but then Rong noticed small movements coming from Dongmei. Her eyelids fluttered and her fingers twitched now and then. After another three seconds, Xiuying pulled quickly away, her hands hovering over their original positions. Ten breaths passed when Dongmei's eyes fluttered open, her steel grey eyes flicking around the room.
Her pale lips parted as she took in a small breath, "Where...where am I?" Everyone in the room let out a sigh of relief. Rong kneeled next to Dongmei's bed, smiling down at her.
"You're okay." He whispered, laughing softly, "You're okay..." Dongmei cleared her throat and sat up, Xiuying hurrying to help her. Shooting a glance at Cheung, Xiuying wiped Dongmei's brow. Clearing his throat, Cheung moved to Rong's side and pulled him, steering him out of the room. Once the boys were gone, Xiuying helped Dongmei up so that she could change.
"So...how long have I been out?" Dongmei asked, untying her dai behind the bamboo screen. Xiuying winced at that question.
"About three days. If I hadn't woken you up...well, let's just say something bad might have happened." Dongmei sucked in a harsh breath behind the screen, stepping out behind it as she tied her yeopei to her dai. "My apologies, princess, I forgot to introduce myself." Xiuying quickly bowed, "I am Huang Xiuying of the Siwang Clan of Baiyunju." Dongmei visibly stiffened at that, her hand freezing in the middle of tying the yeopei.
"You-" Dongmei started but the young Siwang heir cut her off.
"I knew your mother." Xiuying paused, "Well...kind of. She was my aunt." Xiuying looked up at the princess. "Dongmei Gongzhu...I'm your cousin."
"WHAT!"
------
"Cheung...what do you suppose would have happened if we didn't wake Dongmei?" Rong looked down at the small stream, standing by Cheung. Cheung hummed, putting a hand behind his back.
"It depends. Her spiritual power would have ebbed away, or she would have never woken, slowly degenerating. Who knows?" Cheung looked at Rong, "You seem to care...very much of the princess."
Rong stiffened at that, "Of course, she's the princess and as the general of the Imperial Army, I have the highest responsibility and honor of caring for her."He said quickly. Cheung chuckled.
"Is that so, General Rong? From what I've observed..." he trailed off, smiling at the young general. Rong rolled his eyes, both falling silent and observing the fish below.
"Cheung-" Rong started.
"WHAT!" Dongmei's voice echoed through the whole manor. Both boys immediately started running to her room.
"Who did it!?" Rong burst into the room, his hand on his sword hilt, Cheung right behind him. Dongmei laughed with Xiuying.
"Nothing...well, she's my cousin," Dongmei said in between laughs.
"WHAT!!" both boys said. "How...when...what?????" they both looked dumbstruck.
"My mother is her aunt. Her mother was the daughter of the Baiyunju Siwang Clan Leader." Dongmei said as if it was obvious. Cheung nodded, Rong slow to react.
"Right...you're lying." Rong laughed nervously. Dongmei frowned at his reaction. "You're serious? Do you know how dangerous this information can be?!"
Dongmei nodded, "Yes, I know. But don't you see? My father married a Siwang."
