Nico's POV
I stand behind the tree for a while, not making a sound. I decide to risk it and start walking back when I hear my name being called."Nico." A familiar voice says with no emotion. I slowly turn around to see the son of Poseidon glaring right at me. We awkwardly make eye contact for a few seconds until I decide to break the silence.
"H- Hey... how've you been?" I say in the most unintentionally sarcastic way possible. This seems to tip him off a bit. Still staring at me with those angered eyes he reaches into his pocket and pulls out his pen. He clicks it and summons his sword, I raise my eyebrows in an 'are you serious?' way but he holds up his sword in a starting stance. I sigh. "Look, man, i'm sorry, I didn't exactly mean for you AND Annabeth to go." I say realising how stupid it actually sounds during this type of situation. Especially when i'm the one who doesn't have a weapon. He must have realised that and taken his chance as he runs toward me. I take my hands out of my pocket as he swings his sword in my direction. I protect my head with my arms and the sword makes contact. I scrunch my face as pain shoots up and down my body from the spot where I had been hurt. He pulls back his sword again ready for another swing when I shadow travel to the underworld, successfully dodging another hit. I don't have full control of my shadow travelling yet so I appear in a random forest that I faintly recognise. No, I recognise it. This was the same forest I escaped to the day my father claimed me. I cried for hours. I can't exactly remember what I cried about. It might have been because of the way Hades welcomed me, by not welcoming me at all. No, I don't think it was that. I couldn't exactly pin point it. The forest just gave me depressing vibes and memories. As I look around a sudden dizziness washes over me and brings me to my knees. "Come on, come on." I whisper to myself to give me motivation. The last attempts at shadow travelling caused me to use up so much energy that I ended up fainting, but I can't do that now. I had a battle to win.
Percy's POV
I manage to push past the crowd who eventually left after realising I was gone. I slowly creeped up to the forest trying my hardest not to snap any twigs and scare the thing away when something appeared from behind a tree. It was a boy. He had dark hair, he was wearing hiking boots and an aviator jacket I immediately recognised."Nico." I said trying to clarify my suspicions. The boy turned around slowly and was now facing me, making eye contact. It was Nico. He flashed me a forced smile.
"H- Hey... how've you been?" He asked in the most pathetic way possible. How have I been? HOW HAVE I BEEN? I reach into my pocket and take out my pen. Is that all he has to say for himself? I click my pen revealing my sword. He raises his eyebrows like he doesn't think I can touch him. "Look, man, i'm sorry, I didn't exactly mean for you AND Annabeth to go." He admitted. Me AND Annabeth??? Did he only meant to send me? All the pain and torture Annabeth went through because he MADE A MISTAKE? I charge at him, rage taking control of my actions as I pull my sword back. I swing it, aiming for his head but his hands block my sword. I could see the cuts he received on his arms weren't that deep since his aviator jacket cushioned most of the hit. It still managed to seep through his jacket and cause damage, not enough though. I swing my sword back again for another hit when he gets consumed by this dark purple mist. When I let my sword swing it doesn't make contact with anything but air. I lifted my sword to my shirt and wiped the bit of blood that was left on it by Nico and look at my surroundings. There was nothing. No sounds. No breathing. No Nico. He had done the one thing he's good at, disappearing.
