Chapter 33

Percy's POV
I storm out of the infirmary, in need for some air to distract me from my thoughts. I make my way toward the beach, stumbling over my feet on the way, when I bump into Chris.

"Woah, you okay there buddy?" He says, catching me by my shoulders before I fall.

"Yea, all good." I say, regaining my balance.

"You look a little pale," He mentions, "do you feel okay?" He brushes my shoulder and lets go.

"Yea." But I don't remember the last time I felt okay. Every day i've been on edge.

"Percy?" I realise I was staring again. "Have you been eating?"

"Yup." I lie again.

"Drinking?" His eyebrows raise.

"Yes." Just the thought of water made my throat dry.

"Sleeping?"

"You're not my mother!" It slipped out but I could tell by his face he was offended. "Stop asking me questions." And with that I continued my journey to the water.

I find a comfy spot on the shore and plop myself down, immediately spreading out my first aid haul. I had tape, antibiotics, bandages, antibacterial wipes, gauze, and a singular piece of candy in a smiley face wrapper. I chuckled at the gesture and gently unwrapped it, shoving the packaging in my pocket. I opened the antibacterial wipes as I chewed on the sticky toffee. My face cringed as I dragged it across a deep cut on my arm, placing it back in its packaging when it was stained red. I began patching up my knee, having to bite down on my tongue to distract myself from the excruciating pain. I picked up the bottle and read the instructions on the back; take two every four hours. So I picked up two and swallowed them dry. I achingly gathered my self up and went for a swim. As soon as my body touched the water I immediately felt better.

I decided to let myself air dry, as I forgot to bring a towel with me and headed back to my cabin. I wondered where Annabeth had gone off to. As I approached the fountain, I thought I would see Annabeth there, but smoke appeared in front of me.
