When Granny Rain was finally able to get up, she began making trips to the City of Benevolence. She was looking for someone.
However, the City of Benevolence wasn't a place anyone could just enter or exit at will. Therefore, Granny Rain waited at its gate every day.
The City of Benevolence is where everyone is born, so it records each newborn's identity information and uploads it into the Elemental Magnetic Network. This information includes the time of birth, name, and state of elemental magnetic power.
Identity is the only identification for everyone to receive their distributed share, such as subsidies before the age of fifteen and livelihood after that age.
When Granny Rain found Raina Grace, she was afraid that bringing her to the City of Benevolence would lead to complications due to her unclear origins, like an issue during the identity check, and what Granny Rain feared the most was not being allowed to adopt her.
Thus, Raina Grace had been without an identity.
As Raina Grace grew older, after many years, Granny Rain ruled out the possibility that she was born in the City of Benevolence and then accidentally left at the Endless Sea. This was because there were too many oddities about her, and the City of Benevolence, with its strict management, wouldn't let a child be abandoned.
If Granny Rain died, the lotus pond she depended on for her livelihood would be reclaimed. Without an identity, Raina Grace wouldn't receive any subsidies and would have no means of support.
Typically, adopted children can return to the City of Benevolence upon the death of their adoptive parents if they are still minors, until they reach fifteen and receive their housing and survival tools distributed by the Celestial Domain.
Raina Grace could actually go to the City of Benevolence. The issue with her identity might not be unsolvable, but it would be extremely troublesome and could potentially expose her secrets or even endanger her life.
For ten years, Granny Rain had been trying to get an identity for Raina Grace. But unless she knew someone from the Sky Domain, it was impossible, as the Elemental Magnetic Network of the Gold Department could catch every illegal or disciplinary action.
This is why everyone in the Elemental Magnetic Star lives peacefully and lawfully; there is no room for loopholes.
Now, Granny Rain was holding onto her last hope, or rather, taking the last step she was forced to – seeking the Lord of the City of Benevolence.
In the past, she never thought she could have any connection with the lofty Lord of the City. However, she had heard that the current Lord was named Aurelia Leaf. For some reason, she felt that Aurelia Leaf was Jadelle. If it were Jadelle, there might have been past acquaintanceship, and Granny Rain wondered if she would help; or rather, her biggest hesitation was whether asking Jadelle for help was a good idea.
