As she prepared to leave, Raina Grace was filled with emotion, but once those feelings were acknowledged, she could depart with ease. However, someone was calling her, "Raina Grace, Raina Grace..." It wasn't her imagination; the call was clear, coming from above. Looking up, she saw nothing but the oppressive darkness of deep water.
"Raina Grace, Raina Grace, is that you? Come out!" The voice grew more urgent with each call, a mix of anxiety, concern, sorrow...
Raina Grace had to stop. She recognized the voice as Flame Wave's. But she was unsure whether this was another trap or a new test. "Raina Grace, please, tell me how I can save you..." The voice was filled with despair, as if he was being left to perish in this endless abyss.
Raina Grace's heart raced, her voice trembling, "Flame Wave, is it really you? Are you here?"
But the voice came from above, the opposite direction of the light door. She glanced back at the fading light door, the souls gradually leaving. If the last bit of light vanished, it meant the door would close.
Above was the endless black abyss; below, the gradually dimming doorway to the human realm.
When all light subsided, the only direction in the dark world was guided by the hope in one's heart.
Since being transported to the abyss, Flame Wave had been battling and coexisting with a massive creature, a whale whisker monster. Initially, he didn't understand his surroundings. The ground was sticky mud, the environment was dark like undulating hills, and above were a few bizarre red stars. Not only were they strange, but also dangerous, with frequent tremors and unexplained attacks.
Through continuous exploration and struggle for survival, he gradually pieced together his location—a monster so vast it filled the entire space. Its roots stretched beyond this space, with red radiating spots indicating energy leakage from the roots penetrating outer space, its source of energy. The tremors were the creature moving.
Perhaps out of loneliness or for ease of reference, Flame Wave named the monster the Whale Whisker Beast.
Survival was extremely difficult here, with an elemental magnetic field cycling in a regular pattern, unbearable for humans. If not for the harsh training in the Pine Mist River's magnetic illusion and insights from Raina Grace and Flicker Shadow on manipulating elemental magnetic forces, Flame Wave doubted his survival.
The absence of food was a critical threat for organic beings needing regular energy replenishment.
Fortunately, Flame Wave had brought a large supply of food color pills. However, this luck was marred by regret for not giving more to Raina Grace. He dared not think about how she survived all these years in the abyss, if at all.
Despite losing track of time, possibly spanning seven to eight years or even more, Flame Wave's dwindling food color pills forced him to invent a new method of production to sustain himself.
He could only pray that since Willow Wood had brought Raina Grace to the abyss, he must ensure her survival.
Throughout the days of battling the Whale Whisker Beast, longing for his loved one, and striving to live, Flame Wave pondered why he was transported here. Was it a miscalculation, or had Aurum Aspire tampered with the process, turning his destination into a prison? No, he chose to trust his judgment: the transportation wasn't mistaken; he just hadn't found the true entrance, believing there must be a correct way to open it.
Whether the Whale Whisker Beast was native to the abyss or trapped by Willow Wood, maintaining such a massive creature required immense power and resources. Even if the beast only needed elemental magnetic force, the modified magnetic field here was either to maintain this space or imprison the beast, indicating a significant effort.
The creature's vastness was unimaginable, and after years of exploration, Flame Wave was still unsure if he had covered its entire body. He could only piece together its outline from his imagination.
Its skin, the only solid ground for Flame Wave, was challenging to navigate due to its slippery and uneven surface. Moving a few inches took enormous effort, and the beast's movement or slickness often caused him to lose balance, sliding to an unknown part of its body.
Besides adapting to the harsh magnetic environment and terrain, Flame Wave had to fend off parasites from the Whale Whisker Beast.
These massive, hideous insects, resembling fighter jets from a nightmare, had long, flat bodies covered in a hard shell, shining with a metallic luster, seemingly indestructible. They navigated the elemental magnetic field with ease, using magnetic forces for high-speed levitation and quick travel. Their sharp antennae served as primary weapons.
Despite their strength, Flame Wave grew stronger through fierce battles with these insects. He mastered the unique elemental magnetic rules of the abyss, learning to use this environment's power to enhance his defense and attacks. His perception sharpened, allowing him to detect the insects' attack intentions early. His combat skills improved, utilizing the abyss's magnetic field for teleportation and invisibility, making it hard for the insects to track him. He also developed control over elemental magnetic energy, releasing powerful energy shockwaves to repel the insects.
Most importantly, these insects, being organic, became materials for his new food color pills. Adapting wizard spells for this purpose wasn't easy. Over time, Flame Wave was no longer troubled by these insects; sometimes, they even aided his journey.
The one mystery he couldn't unravel was the Whale Whisker Beast itself.
This colossal creature exuded an ancient, mysterious aura, its tendrils like enigmatic runes in the stars, forming complex patterns. It seemed to dominate this space, but to Flame Wave, it felt more like a prisoner.
