At the entrance to the abyss, a group of people gathered, wielding leather spears—the freemen.

Seeing Raina Grace and her companions approach, a man dressed more neatly and authoritatively stepped forward: "Flicker Shadow, you've come?" While greeting Flicker Shadow, his eyes were fixed on Raina Grace.

"White Lightning, what's the situation?" Flicker Shadow asked.

As White Lightning described the situation to Flicker Shadow, Flame Wave turned to stand in front of Raina Grace, shielding her from White Lightning's pressing gaze, and whispered, "This is the entrance. Shall we go in first?"

For Flame Wave, who was entering the abyss for the first time, Raina Grace trusted his abilities but wanted to be cautious in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

As previously arranged, Willow Wood was responsible for looking after Jadelle, Flicker Shadow would bring Lightning, and Raina Grace had already called WeeStick to her side. At that moment, she took Flame Wave's hand: "Stay with me, get used to it first."

Flame Wave grasped Raina Grace's hand in return, cheerfully saying, "Okay, I'll follow you."

"Let's go ahead and wait for you, Flicker Shadow. You and Lightning cover our rear," Raina Grace told Flicker Shadow before leading the way into the passageway with Flame Wave.

Flicker Shadow paused his conversation with White Lightning and watched as the group disappeared into the entrance.

"Raina Grace... has completely changed, hasn't she?" White Lightning kept his gaze on them. Every time he saw Raina Grace, she gave him a different impression; she never stopped progressing, while he had fallen far behind. "Who is the man with her? He seems distinguished, a formidable opponent, right?" No longer harboring unreachable aspirations for Raina Grace, he couldn't help but provoke Flicker Shadow.

The evident melancholy in Flicker Shadow's eyes only affirmed White Lightning's decision: "Why don't you come back? There are plenty of women in the tribe who like you. I need you too."

Flicker Shadow snapped back to reality: "Why bring this up now? Let's continue from before. You said they felt called by the abyss to come here on their own?"

"Yes, several said so. But only these two went over and never returned," White Lightning returned to the matter at hand. "I investigated a bit, and these few were inconspicuous within the tribe, saying they longed for power but couldn't find the way."

"What do you mean by 'called'? Did someone convey a message or something?"

"They said it was in a dream. But everyone's story differs; some dreamt of the abyss's fire, others of its mighty power, and some even of the elemental magnetic force."

"I see. But the abyss is so vast, I can't guarantee we'll find them." Having gathered enough information, Flicker Shadow prepared to join Raina Grace and the others.

"Of course, of course." White Lightning didn't hold much hope but felt obliged to do something as the tribe's chief.

Moreover, the situation was peculiar, with this notion of the abyss's call, which he didn't believe. Yet, the freemen's delirious behavior seemed genuine. It would be best to prevent such incidents; otherwise, if someone claimed to be called to manage tribal affairs, his authority as chief would be undermined. "Flicker Shadow, we'll leave it to you. You all are capable, so we won't get in your way. But I'll have someone stand guard here. If there's any news or need, let them relay the message."

Entering the abyss for the third time seemed no different from their recent departure, but with more companions and Flame Wave by her side, Raina Grace felt nothing terrifying about it. In fact, she took the opportunity to introduce Flame Wave to the area, mentioning it as the birthplace of the Azure Phoenix and where Willow Wood summoned the abyss's power intending to trap her, among other things.
