The thing about foster children is that many don't get to experience the holidays most take for granted.

Alex and Jo couldn't believe these kids had never received Christmas presents never mind them never having been trick or treating.

So this year it was their mission to give them the best holidays, starting with picking the perfect costumes.

After much careful consideration Sadie finally decided on a princess costume. At first, she thought she might be too old for it but after much convincing from Alex that she was always his Princess no matter how old she got she decided it was the perfect one.

The dress was bubblegum pink with mesh long sleeves, it had a white strip of soft fabric running across the top to make it off the shoulder and the gold appliques that ran down the centre of the body and around the rim of the skirt added to its elegance and majesty but the most important part was that Sadie loved it.

Jonah and Lydia on the other hand were going for the cute/funny factor rather than the gracefulness with their matching dinosaur and bumble bee jumpsuits that they picked from options Jo had shown them.

With costumes picked and candy stocked all that was left to do was get ready.

Jo helped Sadie into her dress and then did her makeup with pink eyeshadow that matched her dress and glitter on her cheeks to pull everything together.

Meanwhile, Alex was left with the task of dressing two toddlers wired up, high on sugar from breaking into the trick or treater candy bowl. They were giggling with each other running around the living room jumping on and off every surface they could as Alex just sat there not even knowing where to start.

"Come on guys, help me out here," He sighed, head in hands pretending to cry, "You're making me so sad," he pouted, shoulders hung as he sniffled and sulked.

Almost immediately the pair decided Alex was their next landing pad and after a few minutes of giggles and cuddles, he managed to get the duo cooperating and dressed.

Minutes later Jo and Sadie entered the living room, Sadie ran over to her siblings twirling as they admired her sparkly outfit.

"Are we ready to go in here?" Jo asked leaning against the door frame and smiling at her kids. Her kids.

"I think so," Alex replied standing up and walking over to his wife, he went in for a kiss before turning around to admire his children with a smile.

"Let's get going then my sunshines!" Jo beamed as she, Alex and the kids filed out the door pillowcases in hand ready to experience a true Karev Halloween.
