Enyo's eyes widened as she stepped off the ship into the marketplace. The dock swayed underneath her and she subconsciously shifted her weight until she was steady. Hundreds of people bustled back and forth from ship to shop and back again. Crammed between the shops were tiny market stalls, selling everything from cheap repair bits to novelty trinkets.
"We are never going to find a lotus tile here," Zuko grumbled next to her.
Enyo glanced at him, narrowing her eyes against the sun. It had been dreary for the past several days, drizzling on and off, and leaving the deck of the ship slippery. The sun was finally beginning to glare through the clouds, but not enough to dry the worn wooden dock and a thick mist still hung in the air. Foggy canals stretched deep into the town. She inhaled deeply, letting it dampen her lungs.
"We could find anything we want here," Enyo snorted, shoving her hands into her pocket and curling around the two stones. She ran her thumb over each one. "I just wonder how legal it is."
Zuko's eyebrows rose-- a sign he hadn't considered that.
Enyo laughed. "Come on, maybe we will get lucky and there will be Avatar information somewhere as well."
Enyo set off, moving through the crowd, Zuko grumbling as he followed. The crowd parted easily-- it usually did for Fire Nation regalia, one of the privileges of travelling with members of the royal family. It could've also been the spear at her back and the knives at her waist as well. Usually, people parted for Zuko as well.
Enyo stepped off the dock and onto the stone walkway, scanning the stalls as they passed. None of them seemed like the kind of place to carry extra Pai Sho tiles.
Find the Pai Sho tile, find the Avatar, and find where she came from. Those were her current missions.
Enyo glanced back at Zuko. He was still frowning, but there was a gleam in his eyes as he scanned the area, following close behind her.
An enthusiastic cabbage salesman darted in front of her and she halted, frowning. Zuko slammed into her back and she stumbled forward on the slippery stone, nearly pitching into a canal. A split second later, a hand was on her arm and she was being yanked back upwards.
Enyo was pulled up and away from the stone. Zuko's hand was still gripping her arm.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
Enyo nodded, glancing at him over her shoulder. Heat rose to her cheeks and she swallowed. Her gaze drifted over his shoulder to a rickety old ship that was rocking on the canal, tied to the town by a single rotting rope. A wooden plank stretched from the boat's opening to the stone path. A sign hung above advertising an assortment of rare collectables.
"What about there?" Enyo gestured towards the ship, and Zuko followed her gaze.
"Fine, let's hope they have it."
"Zuko," Enyo spoke. "You have to let go of my arm."
Zuko removed his hand and took off towards the ship. Enyo rolled her eyes but followed him through the crowd. They both walked across the wooden plank and into the ship.
Enyo wrinkled her nose. It smelled of salt water and damp moss outside-- not a particularly pleasant combination-- but she'd take that over this ship. The inside smelled of sweat and some sort of infection, and thankfully, the Fire Nation ship never reeked like this.
Inside, there were no customers, only a small selection of pirates, dressed in a shabby assortment of clothes and shoes, lounging about and scanning over their products. Upon their entry, there was a shift. The pirates shifted towards them, identical scowls.
