"Hello, Zuko here,"
Enyo cackled, leaning back on the massive boulder. They had set up camp near the Western Air Temple, trying to pick the best way to approach the Avatar and gang. They were hidden near the outskirts of the forest, tall dark green shadows stretching over their tiny tent and airship.
"That'll definitely work," Enyo laughed, clapping her hands together. Zuko had packed an extra change of clothing, and she sat in it now, the loose linen clothing letting the light breeze press against her skin and ward off the growing summer heat. "Go in with that and they'll be begging you to join them."
Zuko scowled at her, rubbing the back of his neck. His dark hair hung into his eyes. "I know it sucks. I'm so bad at being good."
Enyo kept her smile on her face, though she stopped laughing. She had pulled her hair back-- a style she remembered her mother wearing-- with a scrap of her prisoner uniform. Strands of it had floated into her eyes and were hazy in the heat.
"I think it's best if we just go down there and talk to them. That's the only way that anything will happen." Enyo tilted back, letting the sun rest on her face. She had filled up a small pouch with water and it sat next to her, its strap pooling on the warm stone.
Zuko sighed, dragging his hand down the side of his face. "Why is this so hard?"
Enyo shrugged, leaning forward and bracing her hands on her thighs. It was still strange between them-- though she didn't expect anything else. He had changed, and she was fairly certain it was for the better, and still, when she lay beside him in the tent at night, listening to his breathing, her thoughts drifted to Ba Sing Se. She didn't want to keep thinking about the kiss-- Zuko had said it was a mistake-- but she couldn't help it.
"Being good isn't easy, but at least you are trying," Enyo offered. She pushed herself off the rock. There was an itch beneath her skin, and she wanted to see her siblings again, especially Sokka now that she knew who he was. She crossed her water pouch over her body and strapped her bone spear against her back, before approaching him. "Come on, let's go."
Zuko peered at her, before exhaling and nodding. He picked up his broadswords, sheathing them on his back. "Okay,"
Enyo nodded, and tentatively reached out, squeezing his bicep once. It was an attempt to comfort him, but she couldn't help the flush on her face. Maybe he would think it was the heat.
Together, they walked in silence, heading down into the Western Air Temple. A cool breeze filtered through the tall buildings and pushed at her hair. She didn't know where they were staying in the temple.
They came down into a wide open space, and through the archway, Enyo could see Katara, Sokka, Aang, and Toph. The flying bison that she and Zuko had released in Ba Sing Se was snacking on a bale of hay nearby.
"I'll go first," Enyo murmured. She left Zuko's side, walking out of the shadows and into the open space. The small flying lemur chirped at her and they turned to look at Enyo.
There was a pause where the four of them stared at Enyo. The wind stilled and blistering heat pressed on Enyo's face.
Katara was the first to break. She let out a choked sob and ran at her.
Enyo grinned and met her halfway, meeting her sister in the middle. She squeezed her tight, her arms wrapping around the younger girl.
"I can't believe you're here," Katara murmured.
Enyo glanced over Katara's shoulder. Sokka had approached, and was now a few metres away, watching them cautiously. He rested a hand on the boomerang that was at his hip. Enyo smiled slightly, appreciating the defensiveness in his eyes. He was so much like their father.
