Noah POV

I've been waiting for this moment for 6 years!  But sitting in my car in the parking lot of my old high school, I was frozen in doubt.

In fact, I began to doubt when my mother asked me earlier in the day:
-Noah, does your presence here have anything to do with Dr. Rochelle Evans' return to Los Angeles?

There was no point in me lying, my mother had seen through my game.  She was the only one with Chloe who knew how painful this breakup with Elle was for me!
-You're right, it has everything to do!  I knew I had to give her space to be able to find what she really wanted to be.  I'm so proud of her, of everything she's accomplished!  I'm hopeful that since college is no longer an obstacle, now is the right time?
-So you're going to offer her a second chance?
-I have to at least try! I think today I'm ready to go back with her to why I did what I did.
-I see!  Noah, you know, it's probably not enough for you to make a plea to Elle about why you were right to break up 6 years ago.  You're going to have to accept the effect you had on her by making this decision.

I looked at my mom with big eyes and she started laughing when she saw my face.
-That's what life as a couple is all about, Noah!  We make others experience the consequences of our actions and we experience the consequences of others' actions.
-It sounds so confronting!" I said, running my hand down my neck.
-The strength of a couple is to be able to hear the effect we have on each other and forgive the other for the effect they have had on us.
-I think I'm going to start by asking her for forgiveness for the way I did things.
-I think that's a good start.  And knowing Elle, she'll probably agree to forgive you.  As for giving you another chance, that's up to her.

The discussion with my mother made me think a lot.  I'm a lawyer, so for me it's always been easy to make a list of pros and cons to make a point.  But this was outside my strength.  Even as a teenager, emotional discussions were what I avoided at all costs! It won't be easy...

And that's why I was terrified to get out of the car once I got to the parking lot of our old high school.  I took a few minutes to calm down before finally pulling myself out.  The carnival vibe immediately took me back to my high school days when I was desperately trying to protect and interest my brother's beautiful best friend.

I took a few minutes at the top of the steps leading to the carnival when I saw her… walk across the square with a nostalgic smile on her face and stop in front of ... the Kissing booth!  Where it all began!  She was still the girl I had grown up with, but a maturity and confidence seemed to emanate from her.  As if she now knows exactly what she is in this world.   My Shelly had become with those years when we were separated, Dr. Rochelle Evans.  And I knew in that moment that I would give and do absolutely anything to be with her again and forever...

I quietly approached behind her until my brother noticed me and nodded in my direction.  I then approached and said:
-Hey, Shelly!

She turned around instantly with a surprised look on her face.  And it's as if time has frozen at that moment.  I couldn't help but admire this beautiful woman! The one I've been waiting for all these years. Her hair was still the same color but held back by a clip at the back of her head.  She was dressed in a navy blue skirt suit with a camisole as blue as her eyes.  Her beautiful face lit up with an amused smile before telling me:
-So I didn't see that coming!  Hi Noah... I didn't think you'd agree to be Lee's groomsman in the hope of seeing me again, Mr. Flynn.

I looked down and gave a nervous chuckle before I said to her, looking into hers:
-In all honesty, I booked a plane ticket just as Lee told me you were coming back to Los Angeles, Dr. Evans... I really missed you, Elle.
