Noah POV

I woke up this morning lying in my childhood bedroom at my parents' house. My mother was very insistent that I spend this last night, like at Lee's wedding, at home with them. I didn't think I would sleep easily, the excitement and impatience had simply taken over me. I still managed to fall asleep in the early hours of the morning after a drunken evening with Lee.

I opened my eyes to the reflection of sunlight through the curtains. It's the morning of the happiest day of my life. In a few hours, Elle and I will get married and... I must admit that I have waited and hoped for this moment for so long.

I remember this same day last year when I boarded a plane full of hope but also apprehension at the idea of seeing Elle again after her internship in Europe. I didn't really know what to expect since Elle and I had rare contact during this time. During her absence, I oscillated between trying to move on and waiting for her...

Flashback New York December, 18 months before the reunion in front of the Kissing booth

It was the weekend before Christmas, my classes and exams were over at law school. But the law firm I work for in Boston has a big case going on and they asked me to work over the holidays. I accepted, thinking that I could make an express trip to LA, arriving on December 24 and returning on December 26. It's not like anyone was waiting for me...

But to take my mind off things a little, I decided to spend a weekend in New York with Chloe. As soon as I arrived, she took me to an Irish pub. I listened to her chatter while keeping my eyes on my beer.

- So my father introduced me to his new conquest, Sheryl, a girl almost the same age as me. A doll who seems to find it very interesting to go out with a 55 year old man who will make her live in a beautiful penthouse in Manhattan while she is not working." Chloe said to me with a disgusted tone.

- There can be several reasons that will push a woman to stay or leave! Some people just aren't meant to be together..." I said just looking at my beer.

- I have the impression that you are not talking about my father and his doll, Flynn." Chloe said to me, sighing while looking at me with her piercing eyes.

- No !" I told her, putting my hands on my face.

- Would this have anything to do with the future Dr Rochelle Evans' departure for Europe?

- Did she tell you?" I asked her with a nonchalant tone.

- Yeah ! And your brother also told me that he didn't expect to see your panicked face when he told you. I then understood that he was not aware of the relationship between Elle and you.

- It wasn't really a relationship Chloe. We were not officially girlfriend and boyfriend again.

- So you were more or less friends with...benefits? Don't make me think nothing happened between you and Elle on your birthday in Atlantic City.
