Elle POV

Waking up on Monday morning, I couldn't help but be surprised at how much my life had changed in just 2 days.

Last night after our visit to the park's gazebo, Noah and I decided to start actively dating again. We weren't back as a couple officially but we were watching how it goes. Noah would have liked to jump on the train and pick up where we left off. But for my part, I needed us to go back to each of the steps quietly. I wanted us to explore all the little nooks and crannies of that famous summer when everything went into a tailspin and to get to know each other again now.

In 6 years, I changed a lot from the insecure girl who didn't know what to do with her life to a doctor working in an emergency room. And while I'm being perfectly honest with myself, I'm still worried that Noah will realize that the girl he fell in love with no longer exists. That after let him take my heart again, let it be broken again. I couldn't go through that again, to be told that loving me is not enough! I know he told me that he was referring to his lack of maturity to love me for myself and not for him. But it seems like I still needed to be shown it before I let go of the wall I had built around my heart.

On the other hand, we started to behave like a couple again, kissing in public and holding hands. Noah offered to drop me off to work this morning. I had a 5-7 scheduled since last week tonight with my colleagues in the ER. I couldn't see myself cancelling, especially since I wanted to have a good working relationship with my colleagues. Noah didn't want to waste a single minute where I wasn't at work or sleeping without me, so he agreed to come.

It felt weird! I had decided to go to medical school after we broke up. Noah had never been around me during medical school. He had never seen me study like crazy or come back from my internships completely exhausted. But today, medicine was part of my life. It would be a first contact with reality. And I knew that medicine could be one of the first subjects that would lead to misunderstanding between us.

The other topic that could be tendentious is the fact that 2 of my 3 colleagues have shown interest in me and offered dates since I arrived at the hospital. For me, dating other guys has always been a thorny subject between Noah and me. I was thinking that we are adults now and that it will be best to have these conversations sooner rather than later.

The day in the emergency room was completely crazy. It's not unusual to be in code black at Los Angeles Medical Center, but it hadn't let go for 3 days.

I finished my day later than planned. So Noah had been waiting for me for more than half an hour when I left the hospital with my colleagues. He was leaning against the railing of the stairs leading to the main entrance of the hospital, looking at messages on his phone. He hugged me as soon as I joined him, placing a kiss on my lips:
- Hi Shelly, did you have a good day!
- Exhausting!" I said sincerely. "You've already met Dr. Browns and Dr. Levis. Meet Dr. Michelle Taylor. Michelle is Noah Flynn.

Michelle held out her hand to Noah. Then Grant got impatient and said:
- So, are you ready to go? I need a beer after this crazy day! Evans, you owe me one!
- All of Elle's drinks are on my back tonight, so I'll be happy to buy you a drink, Dr. Browns. "Noah said to Grant.

Grant frowned before going down the stairs to get to his car.

After all that, I walked with Noah to his car. He was deep in thoughts, so much so that I thought something had gone wrong during his time in the LA office.
- It's all right, Noah! Sounds like something is bothering you!
- It's nothing! In fact, it's just that I realized that you're really a doctor!
- What! You thought I was a receptionist in a hospital?
- No, I know intellectually that you're a doctor but to see you in an emergency room to hear you talk about medicine, it reminds me of everything I've missed during these 6 years.
