Neon lay awake after hours of harsh training,finally nagging himself to let himself rest only to spend the next few minutes wondering how his stay in Adarlan could serve him to get closer to Doranelle,it was foolish really,Neon barely had any money left after his last few ventures.He decided some assassin and mercenary contracts were in order and he knew exactly how to find them.

He spent the next few days hunting down people,scraping together enough money to get everything he needed,during these past few days a lot has happened,princess Nehemia of eyllwe and her body guards were brutally assassinated by Grave who was hunted and tortured to death by Celaena.As for Neon,his most recent contract was from Arobynn Hamel who needed him to 'take care of' someone who had been apprehended and was now at risk of giving him away.Arobynn would only deploy his best on such a risky and difficult mission but since Sam Cortland was dead and Celaena was obviously no longer at his disposal,he needed someone from outside the guild,someone with a different level of expertise.Someone like Neon.

Neon was currently manoeuvring through the sewers after deciding it was his best bet into making it into the castle,the stench was even more potent to his Lycan senses but he could handle it.Neon suddenly heard panting,he quickly ducked into cover and spotted a handsome young man in his mid twenties just a few meters away and panting as if he just ran a long way.His shoulder was bleeding and he had a dagger ready like he was about to fight.Archer Finn,He was the one that Celaena was tasked to kill and sure enough,the footsteps of Adarlan's assassin could be heard as she came charging towards the wounded courtesan.He tried to talk his way out of it but something he did made the revered killer combust with rage and she was clearly not willing to listen to anything.She struck swift and hard but Archer impressively parried.Neon was aware that clarisses's courtesans were trained in defence tactics by Arobynn but Celaena was a fully fledged assassin.She twirled and Archer jumped out of the way of a deadly strike before lunging forward to slash at Celaena who ducked and plunged her sword in,gutting Archer who made one last attempt to beg for his life before the light left his eyes.Celaena said something about Nehemia before finishing him off,what Neon understood was that Archer orchestrated her death and when Celaena found out,all bets were off.

The captain of the guard showed up shortly after and Neon stalked the two back to glass castle,he didn't know why but something in his gut told him to. Neon knew better than to ignore his intuition, learnt it the hard way actually.He crept through the shadows making sure no one could see him watching,listening,abandoning his contract.He eavesdropped on the king congratulating Celaena on her success and pondering on her next assignment.Neon began to second guess himself when the captain of the guard suggested to send Celaena to Wendlyn and dispatch their royal family and gather intelligence on their naval defense systems.Neon's brows cocked,this was it,this was exactly what he needed,if Celaena was sent to wendlyn and everyone was distracted with her than it would be his door to getting to queen maeve.Neon may have been a master at stealth but Maeve was a different breed and her cadre didn't make things better.He needed them to be preoccupied and it seemed Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan's assassin was his key.Of course there was nothing he could do to ensure the task was actually assigned to her but he knew he didn't have to worry.Wendlyn was one of the few kingdoms around this realm that had fae and magic.The king had wanted to take them down for years.

Sure enough after a few good words were put in, Celaena was officially assigned the mission and he spent the next few days watching her closely, listening to her sing at Nehemia's grave and swearing vengeance and freedom for her people and whatever.He didnt really care about what happens between Terrassen and Adarlan,as long as Celaena shifts the spotlight to herself and distracts everyone and doesn't get to Maeve or the cadre before Neon did then it didn't matter.
It didn't matter.
