Love and Hunt

Chapter Sixteen

"I have read the news on the internet," Grace said. "Those dead police officers have been discovered by the police. And those three missing people have been found in different places. But three of them were dead. And the police department said that they were killed by the witch with a black cloak. The cause of the death of the two police officers is still being investigated. But they don't want to assume that the big thunder that hit and killed two police officers comes from a witch who is in this city with the witch who has killed and kidnapped those three missing people."

"Have my father told you about where Jacob's house is?" I said.

"Not yet." She said.

"Why does it have to take a long time?" I said. "We have seen those witches have killed more people. They don't want to stop. I mean we have to stop them soon."

"I know, Anna." She said. "If it has to take a long time, probably, finding Jacob's house is not easy and fast."

"But we've known that her butterflies have found him," I said. "I don't think it will take longer time."

"We don't know, right?" She said, and I sat down on the sofa.

"Have you got your dinner?" Alex said as sitting on that chair.

"I got fried chicken for my dinner," I said.

"You cooked?" Grace said.

"I saw how to cook them on social media," I said.

I was sitting next to Grace while Alex was sitting on that chair over there, and three of us had the same thing which had been waited. It's a call from my father. I still found nothing on Grace's smartphone when I expected to know Jacob's house to stop the hunt by his witches. And I expected that I could take Luna back to my father's side. Then, I heard the ring from Grace's smartphone. I looked at the screen and found out that my father was calling her.

"Turn on the speakerphone," I said. Then, Grace turned on the speakerphone on her smartphone.

"Hello, Mr. Stone," Grace said after turning on the speakerphone.

"Hello Grace." My father said. "Jane's butterflies have found a cabin where Jacob has stayed. She said that it was located inside the wood near the border. When her butterflies found Jacob in that cabin, he was alone. His witches weren't around. If you want to talk with him, it's better to come to that cabin inside the wood."

"I'm not sure if we will talk as Anna thinks that to stop those witches from the hunt, Jacob has to be killed," Grace said.

"I have seen the news about those dead people in that city because of Sam and Luna." My father said. "I think her idea can be necessary. If we want to stop the troops, then we have to kill their leader."

"I want to know about the live situation around the cabin." Grace said. "is Jacob in that cabin right now? And are those witches guarding that cabin right now? Do you mind if you permit to let those butterflies of Jane check the live situation in that cabin? If Jacob is alone, I, Alex, and Anna will go to that cabin and kill Jacob."

"No, I don't." My father said. "Don't hang up the phone. Wait."

The quietness had just settled among the three of us. I could feel the excitement inside me when my father told Grace not to hang up the phone. I would know the live situation in Jacob's cabin. I expected that he was alone when Jane's butterflies came to check his cabin. I didn't think I would lose that chance if my father told us that Jacob was alone in his cabin.

"He's alone now." My father said. "Jane's just told me. Now, what're you going to do?"

"We're going to kill him, Dad," I said. "Thank you, Dad. See you."

Then, I touched the red icon on Grace's smartphone to end the call.

"We need to take a bus, right?" I said.

"Yeah, let's go," Grace said.

I was behind Alex when this city bus took three of us to the bus stop. Grace was the first one who got out of the city bus. Then, Alex followed. And I was the last one. When the three of us gathered at the bus stop, the city bus moved in that direction and left us alone. When I looked away, I saw the wood over there.

"I'm sure Jacob's cabin inside the wood over there," Grace said. "Let's go. Now is the chance."

I was running next to Alex when Grace was running in front of me. I kept looking forward to the wood over there and began to think of the strategy to kill Jacob. I didn't know about his spell. And I didn't know how many spells he had. I kept running when suddenly Luna appeared in front of us and stopped us from getting into the woods. She was standing there with two people. She was with Sarah and Sam. Grace stopped, and I stood next to her. I didn't think the fight would be as easy as Luna was with them. I thought I could defeat them if Luna was not with them.

"I didn't expect that we would meet here," Grace said.

"We won't let you kill Jacob," Sarah said. Then, she put her hands forward which led to three of us.

"Anna! Barrier!" Grace said. Then, I put my right hand down to the ground. When that strong tornado was moving toward the three of us, it hit the barrier that was created through my spell. It was a strong tornado hitting my barrier, but it gradually disappeared as it wasn't strong enough to destroy my barrier from the spell. When the tornado was gone from blocking three of us to see those witches, I put my left hand down to the ground. I could sense that the big roots were moving underground toward the spots where Sam, Sarah, and Luna were standing. When the roots came out from underground. Luna could escape with her teleportation spell. Sarah was lifted by the tornado that she created by her spell so that she could float in the air by sitting on that tornado. Unfortunately, Sam got wrapped by my big root. My root kept wrapping him till lifted him in the air.

"Sam!" Sarah said. I saw that Sam was trying to escape from the hold of my root, but he got nothing even though he had tossed and turned. Then, I saw he stopped tossing. He closed his eyes. Then, his body created the lightning that was strong enough to destroy my root. Then, he could land on the ground. When he had been on his feet, he struck my barrier with his thunders. He kept shooting my barrier with his thunders coming out of his palms. I looked away when Sam's thunders hit my barrier as they created a bright light that made my eyes uncomfortable. Then, he raised his hands in the air. He was trying to hit my barrier from above. But when his strong big thunders hit the top of my barrier, they didn't break or crack my barrier. When I looked at his face, he looked upset.

I found Luna was there, standing near those trees at the edge of the wood. Sarah was still sitting on her tornado. And Sam was standing there.

"Alex," Grace said. "Hit Sam."

When I looked at him, he began to get down and put his palms on the ground. Then, I saw Sam getting thrown away from where he stood as the earth explosion from Alex's spell hit him from the bottom.

"Sam!' Sarah said. I saw Sam's legs were bleeding. And he couldn't get up. He was lying down on the ground in pain as his legs were bleeding. Sarah came down from her tornado and sat next to Sam, her brother.

"Strike both of them, Alex," Grace said.

Alex who hadn't stood on his feet began to use his spell again to attack both of them had been stuck together. When the ground where Sarah and Sam were staying together exploded from under, I saw the ground got broken into pieces. And there were ashes over there. I stood on my feet. I thought Alex had killed both Sarah and Sam. But I found Luna appeared over there with Sarah who was crying.

"Luna's saved Sarah," Grace said. Then, Luna moved away with Sarah using her teleportation spell. I undid the barrier from my spell. When I came to the spot where Alex used his spell on Sam, I only found Sam on the destroyed ground and had been dead.

I took those steps towards the trees of the wood and started running when Grace stopped me by calling me.

"I don't think Jacob is in that cabin, Anna." She said. "We've been discovered. I'm sure Luna has taken him away from that cabin as she's known that we come to kill him."

I was standing and just looking at those trees at the edge of the wood. I failed to kill Jacob.
