Chapter 31

Max smirked as he let go of Iza. He kicked her behind the knee causing her to fall. He then began to kick her side until she fell onto the ground. She tried fighting back by grabbing at his leg and kicking him. Gage turned back around when he heard the commotion behind him. "What will you protect? Your boss? Or the child?" Max asked the man.

"I will protect them both" Gage growled as he held Violet closer to him and aimed his gun at the man in leather.

"Gage get her out of here! Now. That's an order" Iza pleaded as she looked at him with pain filled eyes. "Gage protect her."

"Boss no. We will all leave together. The same way we came in" Gage replied to the weak woman. "We are raiders. You are the Over boss of the raiders. I won't let you go out this way."

"I'd listen to her. I am giving you one more chance to walk out of here. The child will be safe, and your men will leave with their lives with you. You can take over Nuka World. Make it stronger under a man's guidance" Max offered. Iza nodded at Gage. "I think I will keep her for myself."

"Can I at least say a proper goodbye?" The man nodded at Gage's request. Gage approached the woman on the ground with his child in hand. He knelt down next to her and lightly brushed the hair from her bloodied face. "Iza are you sure this is your order? I will slaughter every man in the room if you say so. I will do anything you want me too. You're my Over boss and I must follow your orders."

"Mommy why won't you get up?" The child asked with teary eyes. "Come with us."

"Violet a leader must count the costs of her people when the time comes. You will learn this one day. Me staying her is my sacrifice so that you may prosper. I make it as a leader and as a mother. Gage get her back to Nuka World. Keep her safe and rule over until she is of age" Iza said as she placed her hand on Gage's cheek. She pulled him into a soft kiss and then kissed her daughter's head. "Now go before he changes his mind. I love you both more than life itself. Remember me always."

With that Gage and his raiders sulked from the building. "So, what now?" A masked raider asked Gage defeated.

"She named me leader in her stead. I will do my job as a raider and her husband and get her back. No raider left behind" he said as he walked through the Strip with the raiders. They found their buggy road to Primm. Gage paid for the rooms again for the raiders for the night. Once in his room he sat his daughter on the bed.

"Is mommy gonna be okay?"

"If they hurt her, I will burn them to the ground. I promise you Violet. We are going to get her back. I need to make a call" he said as he pulled his walkie talkie from with bag. He buzzed into Nuka World. "Nisha, Mason?" He buzzed.

"Gage this is Nisha over. Everything going okay?"

"No, I need our full force in Vegas as quickly as possible. Boss has been taken" Gage said with slight panic and pain in his voice. "Nisha please."

"We will be there by week's end Gage. Protect yourself while you wait."

In the penthouse Iza sat on the floor by the large windows. Max approached the broken woman. "What do you want from me?" Iza asked looking up at the man.

"Your raiders will no doubt seek you out if they are truly loyal."

"I gave the order to leave me here. Gage is now Over boss."

"That's not how that title works. The new must kill the old to fully exchange the title. You are still very much alive."

"Gage will be a stand in until my daughter comes of age. It's a succession all my counsel has agreed upon. There will be another woman at the head of Nuka World" Iza said as she looked out at the building below. "You could have killed them, but you set them free. Why?"

"In truth I only want one personal slave. And who better than a woman who owns slaves herself? You are a well-known woman even as far as the Mojave is from Nuka World. You own many assets that could be useful."

"What of my assets? They are now controlled by Gage."

"What is this Gage character to you?"

"Gage is my husband and my right hand. The father of my child. He has guided me since Colter's death" her voice grew small. "He believed in me. He trusted my judgment no matter what."

"And now he's abandoned you here, with me. Your child is now in the hands of raiders. What if she's captured, sold, beaten or raped by others or even the raiders you put so must trust in?"

"He did not abandon me. I gave him a direct order. He will see to it that no harm comes to his daughter."

"How old is the girl?"

"Why do you care? You'll never see her again" Iza spat. Max slapped the woman across the face roughly.

"I expect you to answer me."

"My daughter is two. She will be three next month" Iza answered as she wiped blood from the corner of her mouth.

"So why not continue to reproduce if the first one turned out easy? Do you not like your husband?"

"Our daughter comes first. Raising Violet is our main goal. She has no need for siblings" Max walked over to the woman and grabbed her hair roughly. Iza winched in pain as she tried to pull away.

"During your stay here, she may get a sibling. I will give you something to remember the time you were in shackles for the rest of your pathetic life." He said as he began to drag the woman deeper into the penthouse by her hair.
